Hold on and enjoy the ride! You will feel like a brand new nurse all over again. That's to be expected so give yourself plenty of time to feel comfortable in your new position. Congrats and good luck!

I went from med surg to er and loved it. I had telemetry training prior to the transition because our floor was going tele. Loved the different , fast pace, and colleagues were great. Ask questions, be safe, have fun!

I just moved from Tele to the ED myself 6 weeks ago and LOVE IT! Hope you do, too!

Best move I ever made. It has been quite a ride. Be patient with yourself and stay alert for learning opportunities. Be willing to do each job or task. Nothing is beneath you. The ED made me feel more a part of a team than my floor experience. As an example: if someone helped me on the floor it felt begrudgingly offered, as if I couldn't pull my own weight. But in the ED everyone is in the same boat . Once you get used to the cadence you'll see the team swarm the patient and initiate protocols for certain presentations.
Learn to trust your instincts.

I just made the transition as well, coming from a med-surg tele/observation floor for 3 years. It has been quite the challenge, especially when we are in our "habits." I find the most difficult task is changing my mentality to be aligned with the ED, but I am hopeful!
If anyone has any advice on how to make this transition mentally, I'd appreciate it!
