ENA Mass Casualty Incident

AN staffers TNButterfly and TraumaRUS are at ENA 2017 in St Louis.

The opening address was enthusiastic and got the crowd dancing in the aisles. Then, Dan Nadworny presented a mass casualty incident that has real world repercussions. MCIs come in many shapes and sizes from hurricanes, to tornadoes to fires in multi-dwelling structures. We must always be at the ready to handle MCIs and training in real time is invaluable. Dan Nadworny was the point person for the 2013 Boston Bombing.

How appropriate for us to have this topic for the opening session. Today the convention hall was on lockdown due to protesters in the neighborhood of the Convention Center after the announcement of the not-guilty verdict of ex-policeman Jason Stockley accused of first-degee murder in the 2011 death of 24-year-old Anthony Lamar Smith.

OP - As I was reading your post I thought of one today's daily on the 'blue side'. Someone was interested in a Clemson college football game.

Last week, I noticed the stadium at Penn State was L O A D E D with attendees. I learned some 110,000 (really, 109,898 as posted) folk were there.

Some 110,000!!! All in one place at one time. All I thought about initially was how does Penn State and local law enforcement manage all the traffic when the game was over.

Now after your post here, I think what an opportunity for some fruitcake ... !

I guess we don't see the BIG PICTURE until we fall upon it or it falls upon us.
