I have to get my ACLS certification in Feb. and I was wondering if anyone has any advise for me in regards to the course, course difficulty, and any tips on how to pass it.

Thanks.

The biggest hurdle in ACLS is the algorithms. If you know the flowcharts, you should be good to go.

Tune out pay attention to the entire class and pride yourself with the knowledge you will receive. Ask questions,if you need clarification. I took lots of notes my first class. When it came time to do your assignment at the end I amazed myself. The instructors were great.

Good Luck.

I just renewed this year... I agree with the PP.. know the algorithms... and in my ACLS book, there was a CD-rom with practice tests that were helpful! Just keep focused and be confident!

I didn't think it was that hard.

Where I take it they send you the algorithms to study beforehand, and I'd recommend that. Some appear intimidating, but if you look at them they do make sense. Then pay attention in class because they'll be explaining the rationale behind the algorithms.

Never forget your BLS. Good, solid CPR is the cornerstone of any successful code.

Take your time with the megacode situation, study your meds and rhythms (and which ones go together) - they basically set up the course for success.

ACLS was easy and a blast for me. My instructors were awesome and we went thru so many practice mega codes, the real mega code was a breeze. If you get your book 1st, do the practice CD and spend some time on the major drugs. Pay attention in class, ask questions and practice each skill over and over until you feel comfortable.

I really enjoyed ACLS, much more than some of my other "required" classes.
