States accepting ISU...I'm posting the list here.

I got this from Kim Cook the other day. It's the most recent list of states that accept ISU's distance program. I'm attaching and also cut n pasting. Can we please make this sticky?

ISU College of Nursing, Health, & Human Services
LPN to BS Distance Education
Recognized/Approved States

Our LPN-BSN distance education program has been RECOGNIZED or APPROVED through each individual State Board of Nursing or Higher Education Commission within the following states:

Alabama
Alaska
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
District of Columbia
Florida(2nd application being completed)
Georgia
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois(need approve each clinical site)
Indiana
Iowa
Kentucky
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
Nebraska
New Jersey
New Mexico
North Carolina
North Dakota
Ohio
Oregon
Pennsylvania
South Dakota
Vermont
Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, St. Croix,
St. John
Virginia
West Virginia
Washington
Wisconsin

ISU College of Nursing, Health, & Human Services, Distance Education Department is continuing to work with the pending states in supplying them with the required information for their recognition or approval.

Although the we have recognition or approval in the above states through each individual State Board of Nursing or the Higher Education Commission, we have several thousand students that are interested and have signed up with The College Network and are working on their general education courses, and we anticipate a large number of students will be applying to ISU and progressing into the Nursing Distance Education Program for the upcoming semesters.

PENDING STATES

Arizona
Arkansas
Guam
Kansas
Louisiana
Montana
Nevada
New Hampshire
New York
Oklahoma
Puerto Rico
Rhode Island
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Wyoming

It is scary that so many states do not accept ISU! Geez, I can't wait to enroll in an LPN-RN/BSN program such as ISU, but I'm a little worried about ISU vs. Excelsiors BON acceptance!

Why is it "scary"? The distance education track is a new program. Things take time. You aren't going to have all BONs accept it overnight nor are you suddenly going to have clinical sites in every hospital in every little town in the US.

I'm curious what the "pending" means.....

My state, Vermont, isn't on the list anywhere, and from what I gather from the BON, isn't going to be accepting a distance program anytime soon.

But New Hampshire is on the "pending" list, and that would be a possibility. Any ideas?

"Pending" means basically that they are working on it. I would imagine that means they've submitted the information to the BON and are waiting for approval?

There is no online degree that the state of CA accepts other than ISU. Suggest you look into their program or make plans to enter a traditional program near your home. Most schools will accept online courses taken at accredited schools for prerequisites, such as English or Psychology. You need to look at the specific requirements for the school(s) that you are considering and plan your school schedule accordingly. Contact the schools that offer nursing programs near you. They will be happy to provide you with this info.

Your best bet would be to call them and see where the process is in the state you are in.
