Wearing a mask

Nurses COVID

So apparently I found the one hospital in the region that actually makes employees wear the masks if they do not get a flu shot. I personally get flu shots because I will take anything to help prevent getting the flu. I know a hospital system threatened to make employees wear masks last year but at the last minute switched to "only if the CDC declares it a pandemic" because of the cost of supplying masks. They don't even supply nitrile gloves to the floors at that hospital system.

the OP certainly was attacked! and the attacker is showing his/her bias, very strongly.

Really? The whole line of questioning was biased. Which is why he got those responses. Since when is being biased become attacking anyway. He posted questions and started a debate, which I feel he knew would happen. Then instead of coming back with facts and sources to back that up, he was not able to formulate a response other than saying he was insulted.

If your gonna come to the sand box.....be prepared for a little sand throwing.

the fact that wtb's first words were about bias, slants his whole argument. You can spread the flu even if you are vaccinated, that is not a slam dunk. and he doesn't want a debate, he wants/expects acquiescence to his percieved superior way of thinking. now, before you complain about my response, remember your remark about the sand box.

who's complaining? I'm not.. So I don't really get your point of view and that's really fine with me. The original poster has not come back. So I think we can just agree to disagree. I have no dog in this hunt on the original topic anyway. I'm just tired of people complaining when they don't like the response's they receive on a very controversial subject, which this is. It's disingenuous to not expect that.

When did I ever claim I wasn't biased on this subject?. I am completely biased in the favor of the scientific evidence, and if someone doesn't utilize peer-reviewed scientific evidence in a discussion with me on vaccines I will let him or her know right away that they are ignorant on the subject.

No one claims that the flu vaccine is a "slam dunk", but there is a remarkable amount of evidence to support that it's the best preventive method available to protect both you & your patients from the flu or a more severe course of illness of the flu (than if unvaccinated). In our individualistic society, where you use 7 adjectives to order your unique coffee, we forget that it's not just about us & what we want that matters.

I think the original poster left the building when presented with your point of view. The facts may have been too much..;()

Anti Vaccine people are dangerous as has been shown with recent vaccine preventable outbreaks throughout the U.S., so the chances of me no longer commenting are pretty much zero.

The hospital where I worked makes employees who don't get the shot wear a mask. I have no problem with that. Immunocompromised patients need every chance they can get to stay healthy. If staff who have little regard for their patients refuse the flu shot the flu shot, then they should either wear the mask or suffer the consequences.

Just because you can spread the flu even if you've been immunized doesn't mean you shouldn't get the vacc. Getting it provides the possibility of one extra layer of protection for patients. I'm more concerned about the right of patients to be cared for in a safe environment; that includes having staff who care for them properly vaccinated.

We really live in a "Me, me, me" society. Rather than doing something for the greater good, it's all about what's best for the individual.

Actually, I forgot that I had posted it.

Not really.

I'm really indifferent with the whole flu vaccine argument. I am just shocked that a hospital will actually enforce the mask deal as that seems like it would be costly to enforce. The last hospital system to threaten the mask-deal backed out at the last minute and the other one didn't give a choice with the exception of official Church paperwork on official Church letterhead or a documented allergic reaction.
