What was/is the length of your CNA program?

It's interesting to read about the different structures of CNA programs. I guess I didn't realize how much diversity there is with schools/facilities and state requirements. I know that there are differences in the programs available in just my city alone! I thought it would be fun to share how our programs were/are set up. Here's mine...

Location: nursing/medical college

State: Nebraska

Length of program: 12 days/7 hours a day of classroom/lab, 3 days/8 hours a day of clinical at the hospital, 1 day of written exam/skills testing with the state.

Class size: 15 people (the max allowed each term)

Location of clinicals: hospital

Yes --- I just posted a response to another query about reciprocity among the states and mentioned that it has been continually proposed that CNA programs be standardized among all the states. Not the text, but at least a general curriculum and standards for hours in classroom and clinical. Possibly, even standardize the skills tests and not 'pick and choose' skills randomly to be tested in. It would be better for the entire CNA market to have that standardization and allow people to go from state to state with their certification.

hi,I havent started class yet,but the class I will be taking at redcross is 5 weeks 4 days a week 9am-4pm,50 clinical hours.

I start in November, but mine is almost 5 weeks long 2 times a week for 8 hours a day.

Oregon requires 75 classroom hours and 75 clinical hours. I took the class in 4 weeks, 5 days a week 7am-3pm.

Days - Mon-Thur, 9 am - 1 pm, 7-9 weeks or Evening course - 3 nights per week, 5 pm - 9 pm, 10-12 weeks. The program could be 7 / 10 weeks, but in the event the instructor may be ill or class cancelled due to snow storm, they might add a week or two.

I start mine at TTC Knox Tn Nov. 20 through Dec. 18, 108 clock hours

M-F 8am to 2:30p 90 classroom hrs. 18 Clinic hrs. I Can't wait!:yeah:

I live in Oregon, and I believe that Oregon has the highest hours of clinicals and actual class time.

75 hours of Classroom time

75 hours of Clinical time

Our clinicals took place through the Avamere company.

I livein KY. My class is one day per week 8-4 (saturdays). The class is 10 weeks. The state requires 75 hours (59 classroom and 16 clinical). It's fairly easy so far. I'm taking it through my community college, so they strectched it out over the semester.

I live in NY - our program is 125 hours. It's a 4 week program from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. We also have a mandatory 30 hour internship at a LTC facility. Good luck to everyone!

I start my class on Nov.11th for 10 days of classroom from 8 to 4pm mon-fri and 2 clinical days from 7 to 3pm in texarkana arkanasa
