too old?

so i have been thinking about it, and mulling it over..and my husband says its a good idea..but i am wonder if 40 is too old try and get into our local registered nursing program? i love my job, but i do think i could take it a step further. on the other hand, most of the nurses at our hospital are younger than me and already have 4 year degrees. any advice??

Do you have a pulse? Then you aren't too old.

I was 37. I'm 43 now. I've been a nurse for 4 years and quite happy I made a career change. It was challenging for sure as I had 3 small kids at home and a husband who was deployed for some of that time, but that which does not kill us only makes us stronger. ;-) I also enjoyed my adult beverages! Haha.

I feel as an older RN, we bring a different experience to the job. Life experiences as well as whatever other skills we've learned through the years. Communication, etc.

I say go for it!!

If you sincerely want to do it, then do it! The time will pass regardless and you don't want to live thinking "what if."

Go for it. I'm 36 and will be 37 in a few weeks. I'm graduating tomorrow with my RN degree.

Never too old. Many of my classmates were older than you. Age isnt anything but a number right.

Noooooo you're never too old!!! It's perspective. OH GOSH, have you seen 80-90 year old race car driving and being body builders. I am looking forward to growing older and being more wiser and having fun in life!

I have a lady who is 37 in my junior class. We all thought she was in her 20s because her personality is so vibrant and she is always smiling and laughing. YOU GO OUT THERE! You be an inspiration to those youngsters and show that you can achieve anything no matter the age.

I'm 38 and just graduated with my CNA. I'll be 41/42 when I graduated with my ADN. So, nope, not too old.

I'll add to it. I was 38 when I became a CNA, 39 when I became an LPN. You are definitely not too old! Go for it!!

My mother is considering becoming a CNA and she is 60. Do you honestly think that is too old/would she find a job? Thanks

Keep your health and physical stamina up and you'll be fine! 40 isn't too old, in my opinion. I started this path to become a nurse at 30.

The students who were older than me motivated me that I could do it! I started prereqs at 30, became a CNA a few yrs later while completing prereqs. Finished my LVN at 34 and am enrolled in the RN program now at 35.

I am not the oldest person in my RN program. I was not the oldest in my prereqs. There were students in my LVN program slightly older than me and one who was a grandmother.

You can do it!!
