Hospital CNA job listing disappeared after 6 days?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hey everyone!

So I've been a CNA for about 2 years now and I've decided I want to try to get into a hospital setting. I love my residents and I love the facility, but I just want a change of pace. I'm starting my BSN program this fall so I also think getting some hospital experience while I'm going to school would be great.

I applied for a CNA job at a local hospital that was posted on Friday, May 30th but it did not say there was a deadline for the application. I coincidentally saw the posting on Friday the 30th and immediately started working on my application. I sent the application in by Tuesday, June 3rd. I haven't had a phone call or an email from the hospital but I just noticed tonight (June 5th) that the job posting is gone.

Does this mean that I didn't get an interview for the position if I haven't heard back and the job posting isn't there? Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

The hospital is a fairly small hospital as well. The population of the city is about 25,000.

Thanks again for any input! :)

Even if that position is filled, or being interviewed, you still have a shot. Plus they can put it on file for another opening

I sure hope so! I was just so surprised that the position disappeared so quickly and I hadn't heard yet. I felt a little bummed out when I saw that it was taken down and I hadn't heard anything. I guess I can't get too disappointed if this doesn't work out because there are always more opportunities out there.

Same thing happened to me, but I got the call for an interview two days after the job posting was down. I got the job. The HR manager said sometimes they will take down a job posting when they get flooded with applications just so they can get through all of them.

The posting was just taken down today so maybe I still will hear back. I got kind of a cold feeling from the HR person I contacted with a question though. I sent her an email with a question about the application and she only sent me a one word reply.

She's probably overwhelmed. (Read posts from nurses who need to wade through applications to get a sense of perspective.) Send her a thank you e-card or email for taking your call. Here's just one source from allnurses.com (I love this site!)

Thank you SeattleJess! I will definitely send her a thank you email.

You're going to stick out of the pile, DancingQueen94! Do you know the name of the hiring manager so that you can drop off or mail a hard copy resume? My instructors stressed doing that and it helped me. Don't give up! You're a very desirable commodity with two years of experience. Best of luck in nursing school, too.

I don't have any information about the hiring manager. I just have a phone number and email address to contact the recruitment center. I wish I could find a way to contact the hiring manager though but I'm not sure if the hiring manager would be located at the hospital for which I applied or if they are in the corporate offices. I'll have to do a little research. I really want this job!

Often times hospitals are required to post jobs online for open positions even when they know exactly who they are going to hire (usually an internal candidate). At one hospital system in the area, HR would only post a position after they had already hired somebody. It makes no sense to me, but that's how some places do business :/

I interviewed, two days later the position was taken down. Then I ended up getting the position :) so you never know!
