CNA's/PCT's how much do you make?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I have a couple interviews for PCT positions, but I have no idea what to expect as a salary. :uhoh3: I am a student nurse in NE FL. Please tell me where you live, your experience, and how much you make. I know I will probably have to take a pay cut, but to be doing what I am going to school for will be worth it, I think. Thanks for you help!

Brand new CNA's in my area of Texas start at 7-8 hr I believe. Experienced CNA's and PCT's probably make 10-12 or more. An experienced PCT may be making more than a new grad LPN. (but then again an experienced LPN may make more than a new grad RN) so. Lately I notice nursing homes offering 10 hr to all CNA's in some areas, but I don't know the working conditions.

Just like nursing and all careers, the pay will vary with the local demand and economy.

I'm a certifed Personal support Secialist in Maine. I work in homecare. I like it but its alot of driving around from one cliant to the othere. A PSS is a step below a CNA but I still make $10.50 a hour. In maine a CNA gets from $9.00-$11.00 a hour starting out.

Specializes in Geriatrics.

I work as a CNA in PA and make $13.50/hr, that is in a LTC faciltiy. Hospitals around here pay around $9.00/hr.

My Sister's Sister-In-Law workes at a Nursing Home and Get's paid $16.00, but only works about 3-5 Hrs a day.....

i am a CNA at a ltc in Northern Wi and i make 9.18/hr but get .25 for shift differental on noc shift.

can't speak personally, but in TX the pay is only about $6.50/ hr all they do is wipe butts and change sheets. many students in the nursing schools down here tried that and are going back for RN.

Kenni, this is a very unfair way to view CNA's I was a CNA and I'm now going back into it. The employer I will be working for offers sponorship for the LPN program after 1yrs employment. I've worked for over 10yrs in Admin and make very good money doing so but i'm going to take the pay cut 15.50 to 10.50 as a CNA but there is more stability in health care and I know in the long run I'll make more than 15.5 as an LPN. CNA's are not "just butt wipers" They assist people with activities of daily living. Am I to assume your only function in life is defecating? CNA work can be very rewarding and I'm sorry you have such a low opinion of it.

I'm from Jacksonville Fl and CNA's make about $10 per hour in a hospital setting. In nursing homes I think they make a little more

I work in CA as a patient care technician in a hospital. I have 10 years experiance and I make $22 an hour. On weekends I make $1 more per hour.
