  1. Your situation is great! Where I work we have 38 residents to a side. 2 sides on 1st and 2nd shift= 2 nurses each shift. 1 nurse midnight shift. Each nurse does orders, glucs, treatments, meds, charting, answers phones, labs, IV's, Feeding tubes, ordering supplies/meds, dealing with families and plus we also dispatch the local ambulance company.
  2. The Zebra stainless steel pens are my favorite plus they are very fine point. Plus as an extra bonus you can disinfect them with an etoh wipe without drying them out. You can buy them at wal-mart or k-mart but they are a little more expense then your typical pen.
  3. what is the recommended time that you wait between graduation and NCLEX? Is 2-3 weeks enough?
  4. How long after graduation did you wait to take the nclex? How quick did you get your results (wi)?? Thanks
  5. I am not an emt but i do have pre-hospital experiance as a lifeguard (backboarding in water is a riot :) ), LPN student and as a CPR and first aid instructor so i really don't want to sit and pay for a class that is all review. Can someone please tell me what else is taught in an emt class??? Thanks
  6. I am a nursing student who currently works in an intermediate care facility on 3rd shift. The time to study is great and the shift differential is also nice :). Having worked at both a snf and an icf i would recommend the icf do to the stress of school. You will still learn as much at the assisted living center if not more because the nurses are not so stressed you they can teach you things.
  7. i am a CNA at a ltc in Northern Wi and i make 9.18/hr but get .25 for shift differental on noc shift.
  8. Can an RN challange the EMT or Paramedic certification in the state of MI? Or do you have to take EMT classes?
  9. in michigan where i live the cc closest is the only one with a nursing program for at least 90 miles so needless to say there is a long waiting list...about 3 years and 1 1/2 years to get into the pre-nursing program and once you are in that you have to maintain a 3.0 gpa and preferably straight a's in all pre-reqs. :angryfire
