anyone working and going to school and having a family

what classes are you taking in the fall and how many.I am going to be taking my state test for cna in two weeks.I want to work the night shift so i can finish school,and be there for my family.has anyone out there doing the same thing.

I am married but with no kids. I've been working full time and going to school part/full time for 2 years now. All I can really say is that it's hard; especially CNA work...I mean physically exhausting. And forget about pulling a double with the 'I'll have more time to get homework done in the night' justification. I work mainly evenings and go to school in the mornings and I learned right off the bat to not expect any homework to get done on any shift. This summer I'm taking Statistics, Cultural Anthropology, General Psych (all prerequisites for the RN/BS bridge program I plan to complete after graduating from my ADN program) and World Lit, which was my last corequisite for my ADN program (arts and letters req.) all online, and I work 5-6 days a week in LTC. This fall I'm taking 20 credits, including nursing school clinicals and 12 upper division elective credits through two other universities online for my BSN. But I sing praises everyday about only working 1 day a week then! Never been able to take a break like that :D (decided to bite the bullet and take out student loans)

Good luck with your state test! The written one is cake. Don't get too nervous about the skills

I work 4 on 2 off as a cna when i don't get called in. Have a wife and 3 kids still at home work full time and go to school for my RN. when you get a day off enjoy it study all you can. i work nights this helps alot. hope this helps.

This coming school year I will be working Mon & Wens as a preschool teacher, classes on Tues & Thursday, working at a LTC as a CNA on Fri & Sat. Sundays for the family. I am a single parent with two boys. It works now because now both my boys are in school all day so when preschool is over I am able to study.

Been there, done that and wouldn't do it again. I did the LPN program with two young boys (5 & 7), a husband, a house and working. Because of that year when people ask me when I'm going to go back for my RN, I usually say never. To voluntarily subject myself to having all that weight on my shoulder doesn't entice me at all right not. Maybe when my boys are much older. It can be done, but hold on to your sanity, because it will slowly start to disappear.

I am currently a CNA at my local hospital. I work the overnight shift and I have a 3 year old. On top of this I'm in the nursing program to become a RN. I'm only 22 and I feel like I've accomplished so much already but it's a daily struggle--and that's a fact!

I am currently working for a home care agency and will be starting cna classes on aug 27. I have two kids, 5 and 7 and I hope to start the nursing program in fall of 08. I'm not sure if I'll actually work as a cna or not, it would depend on if they will pay me more than 10.00 an hour.

I have been working 40 + per week and going to school at least part time for the last 2 years. Starting 9/4 I am going to be working almost 40 hours, and going to school for my LPN, a 10 month program.

i want to thank you. I am taking 4 classes and have 3 kids i told myself it will be great at the end for me and my family.

Hello, Greysa32! :lol2: I like yourself am balancing education and a family with 4 children. It has been my experience that a wonderful support group can be helpful. I am fortunate because my bestfriend and I started this journey together. She like yourself has 3 children at the same exact ages as your children. We are both taking our state board tomorrow! We will see how well we balance everything with having a full time job and going to school. Lots of luck to ya......lol
