  1. I shower before work after if I have a bad call ie. bed bugs or scabies/lice that is the life of a paramedic that knows that they can do what needs to be done prehospital. Nurses are too restricted in my opinion so I gave it up for less than half the pay to make a difference.
  2. What about this post is a violation?
  3. As a paramedic I have to treat including foleys females of all ages. I am a professional I don't care about your gender as a patient. I am concerned with giving the best care possible.
  4. As a paramedic I would have had this pt before you and since I work for a very rural service 45 to 60 minutes transport times. I would establish iv draw labs and place in cooler give double dose of lasix rx iv place foley and possibly place on cpap to help with fluid in lungs and place on monitor and watch v/s.
  5. manufactures are no longer guarantying the sterility of the collection bottles just as they no longer guarantee it for injection meds even when the cap is first removed.
  6. drain tube sponges for the precut hole and the tube will stay in a nice neat coil if you wrap the end through. hope this helps.
  7. Bourbon and Allnurses works every time :mnnnrsngrk:
  8. When the goverment is in control they will pay the hospital what they want if that is $200.00 a day then the hospital has to pay us out of that. Good luck!!!!
  9. Back in a different career, I had an inventory control manager who kept having his expensive coffee creamer disappear form the refrigerator. The way he fixed this also let him know who the thieves were. He made his morning coffee as usual placed the creamer in the refrigerator when it disappeared he posted a note on the refrigerator that after making his coffee he went to the bathroom with the creamer and refilled it with his urine. The culprits all left work within the next 30 min. The next day they were all questioned and when they admitted they had taken the creamer they were told the sign was not true and they were very relieved and said they had learned their lesson and promised not to do it again. Then justice was served all were fired for theft and could not get unemployment.
  10. I think you responce was perfect for the situation. I hope you dont mind if I use it in the future.
  11. I work 6p to 6a Fri., Sat. & Sun. on Friday I get up at 05:30 to take my son to school and try to get a nap between 14:00 and 16:00. Most of the time I dont get the nap so I normally get back to bed at 08:00 sat. and sleep until around 13:30 when I wake up without an alarm other than my stomach that says it is time to eat. I then repeat the process from Sat. am on Sun. then work to Mon. AM and I will not sleep on mondays untill my normal time at 21:00 this lets me switch back to days with no problem. Well maybe just one problem if you do the math I only sleep 10 to 15 hrs out of 72.
  12. I kink the clear plastic tube leading to the bag and hold it with a rubberband. I hope this helps.:wink2::wink2:
  13. Before I went into nursing I was a mechanic for 20 years. We played phone pranks all the time we would put clear grease or a clear sticky sealer on the ear piece. It got to the point that no one would answer the phone without looking at the earpiece first. I think you had a great prank I may try it in the near furture.
