FNP Graduate from Chamberlain College of Nursing Dec 2015

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Published

I'm a family nurse practitioner and graduated from Chamberlain College of Nursing's FNP program as of December 2015.

Lately I have been getting a lot of questions from nurses either looking to start Chamberlains FNP program or who are in the program.

I decided that I would create a blog to address these questions. Feel free to ask me anything about Chamberlain's FNP program.

I am starting in Oct 2017. I have joined the CCN- FB group. For now, just reading posts of students who are far ahead and about their experiences. Am excited

I hope you were able to find a preceptor! I'm in patho right now and am wondering what the midterm is like? Are the questions on the quizzes similar to the midterm?

I have been researching CCN FNP and from talking with friends in other programs I am left with a few questions about the program. I have friends in other FNP programs that require tests be taken at a specific date and time while being video and audio recorded and if the system alarms its shuts down the test, is this the same for Chamberlain? I would imagine that would be incredibly stressful. At conference a few years ago a colleague said she was able to retake quizzes and tests twice and the best score was used for grading purposes?

My last question is about NR508 Pharmacology, how are the topics broken down? 8 weeks for advanced pharm seems really fast paced!

Thank you for your help!

What do you mean by Chamberlain having a contract agreement in place with the practicum site? Is this something that is done after the site is approved, or are you saying the site has to be one that was already approved by Chamberlain?

You do not get two chances to pass! The first day is practice and you may have to test out the second day very soon after you walk in. You will not know the person who you will be partnered with until you announce their name in an auditorium over a loud speaker in front of 400 people.

This is not true... you get one chance to pass or you have to pay for the class all over again and then go back to Chicago again. They give you only one chance and do not assist at all when you are being examined on the second day.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Hi all! Using the "quote" function so we know which poster you are addressing is very helpful. :)

Thank you for this blog. I will start the FNP program March 2018..

Did you find doing two classes at a time and working full time doable ?

Hello! I'm currently in the last few weeks of Capstone and I was worried about the FNP exit exam. The modules provided to us have been really helpful but I was wondering if there are any other ways to prepare for the exit exam. Also, are doing the questions from the APEA qbank and reviewing the modules from Amelie's workshop enough to pass the exam? I guess what I'm worried about is not really knowing how to prepare for it. I've been doing the questions from the APEA qbank and have also been studying the slides from the modules but I worry that it might not be enough. I just don't want to have made it all the way to the end of this program and not be successful in graduating because of the exit exam. Any helpful hints and words of wisdom are much appreciated. Thanks

Hello Everyone! I am new to allnurses and hope I can get some information. For those of you who are more than half way done with the MSN-FNP at Chamberlain, how did you secure your preceptors? Were the Practicum coordinators helpful in setting up preceptors? Lastly, Has anyone here used paid preceptor services such as Preceptorlink or NPCR. I am planning to do my MSN-FNP online and have considered using a paid service to save me the headache of having to find my own. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, I'm considering Chamberlains's MSN-FNP program, but i currently work full time (M-F 8:30-5). How often are you required to complete clinicals toward the end of the program? Will i need to work Part Time?
