44 Years and still Going Strong

March 1, 1960, I started anesthesia school--44 years ago today. In all of that time, there has never been more than 2 weeks in a row that I haven't administered or taught anesthesia. I grew from the open drop ether days to the modern agents and monitors. One of the many things I love about this profession is the constant need to learn, to keep up with physiology, pharmacology, chemistry, biochemistry and pathophysiology. So those of you students studying these subjects now, understand that you are getting a foundation of lifelong learning.

Being a CRNA has been the best thing I have ever done. I hope you all can have the same long careers.

good for you.....I am a new graduate and am thinking of specializing into Dialysis or your field...I think I would prefer to concentrate on one thing instead of many different fields....all the best to you

Congrats your anniversary. You are an inspiration to so many of us. May I get 44 years under my belt. Not likely because I started practicing at an older age but what a goal! Thank you for all your contributions to our specialty.
