Why don't CRNA's like AA's
Please don't give up, I got in: I have been a member of this forum for a year, and through out this year I have worked very hard to gain my acceptance into CRNA School. This week I got my letter of acceptance at University of Maryland, September 2004. I would like to encourage those of you with this goal in mind to keep trying. I got rejected two times. Although I got sad after the rejections, this only gave me courage to try harder. I am a Hispanic nurse, and as a minority, I am proud to join such an elite group of professionals. I want to thank all of you on this board for your inspiration, for your opinions, for your continued advice, and for answering my questions. :) :balloons:

GRE Prep Courses
I am a Spanish speaking nurse, or English is my second language. I took the Kaplan review, and their books, $1,000. I helped me a lot, I just got accepted to CRNA school. So, all depends on how much help you feel you need. At least get the CAT review from Kaplan, it will help you

Advantages and disadvantages of telephone interview
Thank you everyone for your great feedback. I was a student at University of Maryland for my BSN and my husband also graduated from there. So I know the University and the nursing school faculty well. At this point, because of my job demands, it is not possible for me to fly, therefore I am going to do the telephone interview on May 7th at 9:30 a.m. CA time. I am preparing myself to do my best. I will let you know the results. I ask for your prayers and good wishes. Thank you again

Advantages and disadvantages of telephone interview
I wanted to get feedback in reference to telephone interviews for CRNA school. Has anyone had one? What are the advantages and disadvantages? I applied to University of Maryland (brand new program, just got approval), and I have been granted an Interview. I didn't asked for a telephone interview, I am willing to travel but due to time constraint, the faculty that called me, offered to do a telephone interview via speaker phone on May 7th. He mentioned that getting a last minute ticket would be to expensive for me and that is the reason they will do a telephone interview. I am really excited since the first program I applied to, I got to interview, but didn't get in. I hope this is my opportunity to make my dreams come true and accomplish a long term goal I have been working on for many years. Any advice is welcome. :)

Nursing Research in Critical Care Medicine
How about Cinhal? Is the biggest web site on nursing research articles. Most nursing school have already pay for you to be able to access their web site and be able to retrieve a full article from their web site. Hope this helps.

Getting work in Adult ICU
My advice, which works for me, get a job where you can do 12 hours shifts. Most hospitals that do 12 hours shifts require you to do three days a week, which is 36 hours a week. Also there is a lot of hospitals offering the weekend option, where you work every Saturday and Sunday and get full time benefits. Hope this helps

CRNAs in Puerto Rico?
Also you need to know Spanish (communicate, read, understand). Classes could be either English or Spanish, textbooks most likely English, communication with your patients Spanish. Therefore you need to be bilingual.

Hi thinking about: Just to clarify. Seventh-Day Adventist isn't a cult, is a religion . As yoga mentioned Loma Linda University (California) is owned by SDA. It is very prestigious in the medical field. As far as education goes, it never gets mixed with the religious aspect of SDA. They will never try to impose, not even educate you about their beliefs. You are there to obtain a degree and that is what your education is based on.

Arizona Program??
I think the number of applicants is high. I called and talked to the director of the program and she mentioned that they are giving priority to applicants from Arizona and New Mexico. Therefore, I am not sure what my chances of even getting an interview will be, but I will try anyway. I live in L.A. and with three programs in California and so many applicants in the area the chances of staying in California aren't not that great.

Univ. of MD
Xigris: I have tried to contact University of Maryland in reference to their CRNA program, but I don't think I have the right number. Would you be so kind to give me their information? I tried their web site but couldn't find anything there related to their program either. I am interested in applying to their program too. Thank you, Yamile
