Hey everyone,

I got accepted to second entry nursing at York University on Feb 6th and I am really excited about it -finally starting something new and fresh :)

I added this new thread for students who got accepted or students who applied and are awaiting a response from York. I would love to befriend new nursing students even before the program starts.

looking forward to hearing from all of you yorkers :D

I am an internal applicant and I just got admitted to program today. you can call the nursing dept and ask for 2nd entry program assistant and talk to her she will let you know.

I have left the program secretary a voice mail 2 weeks ago but no one called me. I'll call her again. I doubt there are any seats left anymore though

Hi there,

I have one question about nursing school application. I am studying at york finishing my Bsc in Chemistry and my gpa is only 5.8/9 so I know i cant get in nursing with this gpa. I had applied for nursing at different collages but didn't get accepted. So now I am staying back in York taking 3 more course to imporve gpa and will apply again...I don't know but I have lost faith about this. I only took 3 courses last year since i am done with Bsc so no more courses to take...i really want to know if taking 3 courses per year will affect my admission in nursing. I had an A in two of my courses so its not that bad. Please guide me through this if you can i will really appreciate it. Thanks and Congratulations

no it doesn't matter how many courses you take.. I took like 3 in one semester and 2 in one ... just have a higher GPA.. they look at your overall GPA and last 10 courses GPA.. if you are in the B+ to B range in both you should be able to get in... (this is the 2nd entry nursing I am talking about) for other nursing courses at other schools I am not too sure about that process... Good luck ! and don't lose faith : )

Hey rajm, sorry for the late response, I was out of the country for a week. I just finished my last semester at York, so I automatically thought that I would be considered as an internal applicant, but it seems that it isn't so. Since I just graduated, they categorize my application under the external pile. My cGPA is a borderline B (unfortunately C+), and last 30 credits is a high B+.

Hi guys,

So, unfortunately I was declined an offer this year. My cumulative was 5.96/9 and last 30 credits were A. Can you guys give me a hint as to how I could improve my chances for next year? Apparently this year there were 800 applicant and 130 spots. Is York one of the toughest schools to get in?

Hey NavG, don;t worry just take a few courses more or upgrade on some that u didn't do so well in, ur last 30 credits is awesome, and try to get your cumulative average to about a B which is about 6 on the york scale... you should be able to get in :) Best of luck for next year and don't give up!

So MyFile still says No Decision Yet. I really want to get into York so bad! I hate this waiting game..

I think the main thing for applying next year is to apply early and as soon as you can! I applied in December I believe and got acceptance right away after February so maybe that is key!

I received my acceptance as well, finally!

congrats ! :)

Do you mind sharing your overall average and your grades for prereqs?
