World Canada CA Programs

Any January 2015 Practical Nursing hopefuls out there? :bookworm:

I applied to Sheridan, George Brown, Centennial, Conestoga and Mohawk. I was just wondering if anyone is familiar with the HOAE testing, this might be a silly question but can you register for the test only after they have offered you to take it?

The nerves of waiting are getting to me, three to four more months!

I got my offer today! It was on mocomotion but not updated on ocas yet

hii! I received my offer today! Congrats!!

Congrats! Oh my goodness I am going to go mad, I can't even log into the main Mocomotion page at all now and IT ignored the email I sent a while ago. I hope they update OCAS soon. I probably didn't get in anyway but I just want confirmation

Check OCAS! Mine is updated now.

Nothing on my OCAS except my old offers :( Finally got onto Mocomotion though and it says "No Decision".

I give up. I'll just wait until next week, if something comes in the mail great, if not then I'll know to move on with my life :sniff:

I was wondering if anyone can tell me about how long it took to hear from any schools after they took the HOAE. I received a letter in early June inviting me to write the test at Conestoga but because of my work schedule I never had an opportunity to take it until this past Tuesday. I heard a couple kids talking about people they had known who got letters of admission only days after taking the test. Im not sure if that is 100% true but regardless I am starting to get nervous. The woman who administered the test said that our results would be up the end of last week or early this week but there still isn't anything posted on the student portal. I was just hoping that someone could let me know about their experience. How long did it take for you HOAE to show up on the student portal and how long was it before you got any correspondence from Conestoga (or any school) after taking the test.

Thanks!

I'm trying to understand...you applied for THIS coming January? Applications are closed, offers are already given and anything at this point will be waitlisted. When you do your HOAE doesn't affect when you get your offer. Let me explain a bit :p You have to apply before a certain date. For January applications its sometime in June. You're then given a time frame at which to write the HOAE exam. Whether you write it the first day available or the last day available all offers are given out at the same time. Those that do not write the HOEA within the time frame will not be considered in the first round of acceptances and will either make the second round and/or be waitlisted or denied. The first 10-15 people are told what number they are on the waitlist and those beyond 10-15 are simply told they are waitlisted and to apply next year/term. At Conestoga when I wrote the HOAE exam I got my results a week later through an e-mail. Admissions have already been offered for January, the website says the application is closed, and fees are e-mailed end of October. I'm not sure if you mean for January but I think it's too late, hopefully it's not though! Good luck!

Yes, I applied for this January intake back in late may. It is my understanding that the applications being "closed" just means that they no longer are accepting new applications. I know some of the oversubscribed programs status become closed within 24 hours of the equal consideration date because of how many applications they receive even though no one has actually been admitted to the program yet. I think I understand the HOAE timeline and everything. Its published in multiple places that for September intake you must take the HOAE by the 28th or 29th of February which is also the last day that they even offer the test for that intake period. Though I haven't seen an exact date printed, was told a date by the admissions office for when the HOAE are due for January intake period which was either the 28th or 29th which is also the last day they offer them for this intake period. Im a little confused by your reply because you say that offers only go out after the deadline to take the HOAE has passed yet the first round went out in the start of September (a few offers even went out in August) and the deadline for the HOAE isn’t until the end of September. I spoke to a lady in the admissions office in June and she explained to me that they will be sending out the first round of offers in September but only to people who have taken the HOAE and whose average between their grades and their HOAE results are high enough that the admissions committee is confident that they will not be close to that years cutoff. She also stated that some offers will go out between the first and second round as people are completing their HOAE and their averages are well above what they are predicting to be that years cutoff average to be. She also told me that the second round of offers would go out mid-late October, shortly after all the HOAE testing dates have passed. But since I hadn't talked to her in so long or received my results but mostly because I was getting more nervous and confused I decided to call today. I spoke to the lady at the registrars office and she told me that the second round hadn't went out because they do not make any decisions until the last sitting for the HOAE has been completed and the results have been received. She said that they expect to have the next round of offers out in a few weeks and that anyone who has completed the HOAE still will be considered for admissions and won't necessarily be wait listed. Hopefully this will calm the nerves of anyone who has more recently taken the HOAE exam but are still waiting for a decision. I checked my email and the portal this afternoon but my HOAE results still aren't up which is frustrating because you and everyone else Ive talked to received theirs quite quickly. But when I went on Ontario Colleges this afternoon there was an offer from Conestoga which was what I wanted more than the results anyways. So anyone who is still waiting to hear from Conestoga sit tight, more offers will be going out soon.

JolJenni- (or anyone else who might be able to answer) Have you accepted your offer yet or are you already attending the program? If you are already attending the program could you tell me how long before classes actually started were you able to view your schedule?

My answer is based in what I was told. If Conestoga has told you theres still a chance for people to be accepted, awesome! And congratulations on your acceptance! I just don't want people to get their hopes up too high when I know some people have already been told their waitlisted.

I was accepted to the September and January program but have chosen to attend Mohawk's January program! :)

You will get your Conestoga timetable about 2.5 weeks before classes start,

What was your end result?? Did you get into mohawk?

I was accepted to Niagara College!!! and wait listed at Mohawk. I spoke a few days ago to Theresa Bain and she said the second round of offers have already been sent out.. She was only able to call 30 people off the wait list she also said she could be sending another round of offers in Nov. but thats only around 5-10 applicants. I was originally 60th on the wait list.

It looks like ill probably be commuting to Niagara, even though Mohawk was my first choice still veryyy thankful for this acceptance!

Congrats!!
