Mohawk RPN January 2015?

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hi!

i applied for January intake of Mohawk RPN program. I'm waiting to hear from admissions.

I was told I would hear back by the end of august but that is not the case. So I'm wondering when you guys heard back from there and when I can expect to hear back?

In high school I took uni courses so I added 10% for college. I have an 87.6% average.

For my hoae I got:

aa 56/75 84.46 normalized

ns 45/60 67.87

rc 30/35 45.25

sp 38/45 57.31

via 69/90 104.71

im just wondering what grades they look for competitively and I don't really know how to read my hoae results. thanks for your help in advance!

Any help is appreciated!!!

Yep, I got mine today as well. Hooray for free bus fare :)

Is there anyone that can tell me about orientation? Unfortunately I missed it. Having so much trouble getting organized!!!

If you could reply here for anyone else that missed it that would be great :)

Unsure of which block I\m in but I have classes Mondays and Tuesdays! :) IS there anyone that would like to meet up before classes?

There was a lot of information. There is also another orientation tomorrow from 2:30 to 4:30 in B102.

Uniform needs to be worn to lab and clinical. Labs start next week so I'm assuming we need these asap??. Can only be closed toe and heel shoes. No running shoes with mesh on the front. Scrubs need to be ceil blue colour. Cannot wear a shirt beneath it. Need to get the nursing student patch from somewhere, possibly the bookstore but I don't recall it being mentioned, only by a poster here a few pages back. Also you need a stethocope (sp), and a clip-on watch thingy, both can be purchased at the bookstore

Need to get a flu shot before placement (week 5) because some locations require it. If not you may have to take an antiviral drug.

Clinicals are once a week from 6:30am-1pm and today we found out our teacher, day and location. We sat with our placement groups in the orientation today.

We also got information about the e-textbooks.

That's all I remember beyond the usual first day of school fluffy stuff (Study hard, be organized, time management, etc). I think most of the people posting here are in the Mon-Tues class group (I"m not) so I'm sure someone can help.

edit: also found out about our exact schedule but I wasn't listening to the details about the other group. The main thing is there isn't actually a class on Sunday, it's just our lab and placement which are actually on a day during the week.

Wow phil, thanks so much!! I get off work at 2 downtown, is there any one going tomorrow? I have not been there I don't want to get lost!

can our lab shoes have mesh on them? these are different from our white clinical shoes.

Yeah Iam pretty sure that's fine. I think recall them mentioning we should actually have separate shoes for lab and clinical.

Thanks for the info!

Hey did anyone hear anything about what is taking the place of our clinical until we start it?

I think what she said was that the clinical instructors have the practice lab booked for a certain block of time on what would be our clinical day. I didn't catch the times though.

I'm a little nervous about how much stuff we have coming up. I'm glad I don't have to do the English course, I feel like I'm already swamped and we haven't even started

If anyone was aware of the Nursing Diagnosis book issue, I emailed the coordinator (Won't post her name, I think it's against TOS) who said that the one on the McMaster booklist (Mosby's Guide) is indeed correct.

Does anyone know if we have computers tomorrow (For the people who have it on Thursdays)?

That's interesting. I was just at the book store today and the diagnosis book is on hold and not being sold because it's the incorrect one....and I was told not to buy it until the correct one was available instead.......

The book currently at the bookstore has Mosby as a co-author. But the one in the online packet she is the first author....

And yes we do have computers! If you look at the course learning plan it talks about lesson plan one for week one. But we don't have to print it out for this week but every other week we're expected to print it out and bring it to lab.

Yeah a few people were mentioning that in Orientation today as well. I got the Mosby version a while ago off Amazon, I'm not even going to return/rebuy the other one until we've actually heard from the prof of whatever course it pertains to. Lots of confusion :grumpy:
