  1. 1. I agree you cannot study for the HOAE. 2. There was questions on people who invented various things, I specifically got the question about who invented the vaccine for small pox, as well as a few others. The HOAE is very broad and covers many aspects of Science. 3. Semester 1 is in an LTC, semester 2 is rehab (which is where the majority ended up) and acute care (medicine) which is where I ended up. Honestly acute care is amazing if you like constant turnover and dealing with different things every week. There is no guarantee that there are bus routes where you are going because you start early and that depends on your placement some places want you there on the floor at 6:30am for your TOA and others 7am. Every floor in the hospital is different. 4. Your pre-health is an equivalent to high school courses. Remember that half of your assessment is your marks and the other half is your HOAE. 5. I got in for September 2013 but I couldn't attend so I applied for September 2014 I was waitlisted then January 2015 I got accepted. You're not automatically entered for the next intake, you have to reapply. According to one of my teachers we had about 1600 applicants and it was the highest she had seen.
  2. Hey did anyone hear anything about what is taking the place of our clinical until we start it?
  3. Thanks for the info!
  4. Has anyone else handed everything in? I finished last month and finally received my actual CPR card so I can submit that. Also has anyone else receive their bus pass and insurance cards yet? I think the September start is more organized than the january start because I have nothing and there is no info on this stuff but when I was supposed to start in September I had all of this at the beginning of august. Doesn't make sense.
  5. Hey our orientation is on Tuesday january 6th at 9am in room 143 at the IAHS campus. The email said we could arrive at 8:45am to sign in. Keep an eye on your mohawk email, you should be getting emails almost daily. You can also check out the mohawk website for the orientation events.
  6. www.titles.mcmaster.ca this is where you will find all your course materials including the book list. If you click on the health sciences tab at the top you will come to the Page for our stuff. Unfortunately you have to actually click on some items to actually see if they are for our program. The recommended stethoscope is the $66 one by MDF, if you click on it you will see what I mean. It will say recommended for mohawk nursing at the top. However you do not have to buy this one as I said before. I was warned not to buy a stethoscope with two tubes because when they rub together it makes too much noise, myself I went with the Littmann classic ii.Not everything is marked but some things are for those of you looking to get a head start. You can also order your badges online beware that you buy the right one. Ours is green and actually says practical nursing student NOT student nurse.
  7. Hey guys so here's what I know, you will find nothing out about supplies until orientation day as well as clinical and lab dates, however after talking to the girls at the store, your stethoscope can be any kind as long as it has a bell so you don't have to buy the recommended one on the titles Site. Your scrubs are listed on the titles website and they are marked required. As for the book list if it says access code and marked required it is part of the online bundle. There is only a $100 difference between the online bundle and the actual books. If you have bought the books read the access codes that have been supplied to you and do not log on to them until you need to because some of them are only good for 12 months. I bought everything from chapters and used my plum card and I saved bit. Don't forget you can submit your package with your temporary CPR certificate to get things going but once you have your plastic card you have to submit a photocopy of that. See you guys in a couple weeks
  8. Hey guys I also received an acceptance from Mohawk. Has anyone booked their BLS for HCP yet?
  9. Hey guys, I got my acceptance from mohawk today! Yay! It was on mocomotion but hasn't hit ocas yet.
  10. Mine says waitlisted now, not sure when it updated though.
  11. Good to know thanks
  12. LOL I know the feeling.
  13. Has anyone heard anything about the january 2015 start yet?
  14. smarina is correct, there is another round which goes out after the conditional offers have been declined in May (generally may 1st). So probably a couple weeks after that something will be released. The waitlist will is ranked, so depending where you are on the list and how many positions open up will depend on whether or not you receive an offer.
