Mohawk RPN HELP!
1. I agree you cannot study for the HOAE. 2. There was questions on people who invented various things, I specifically got the question about who invented the vaccine for small pox, as well as a few others. The HOAE is very broad and covers many aspects of Science. 3. Semester 1 is in an LTC, semester 2 is rehab (which is where the majority ended up) and acute care (medicine) which is where I ended up. Honestly acute care is amazing if you like constant turnover and dealing with different things every week. There is no guarantee that there are bus routes where you are going because you start early and that depends on your placement some places want you there on the floor at 6:30am for your TOA and others 7am. Every floor in the hospital is different. 4. Your pre-health is an equivalent to high school courses. Remember that half of your assessment is your marks and the other half is your HOAE. 5. I got in for September 2013 but I couldn't attend so I applied for September 2014 I was waitlisted then January 2015 I got accepted. You're not automatically entered for the next intake, you have to reapply. According to one of my teachers we had about 1600 applicants and it was the highest she had seen.

Mohawk RPN January 2015?
Has anyone else handed everything in? I finished last month and finally received my actual CPR card so I can submit that. Also has anyone else receive their bus pass and insurance cards yet? I think the September start is more organized than the january start because I have nothing and there is no info on this stuff but when I was supposed to start in September I had all of this at the beginning of august. Doesn't make sense.

Mohawk RPN January 2015?
Hey our orientation is on Tuesday january 6th at 9am in room 143 at the IAHS campus. The email said we could arrive at 8:45am to sign in. Keep an eye on your mohawk email, you should be getting emails almost daily. You can also check out the mohawk website for the orientation events.

Mohawk RPN January 2015?
www.titles.mcmaster.ca this is where you will find all your course materials including the book list. If you click on the health sciences tab at the top you will come to the Page for our stuff. Unfortunately you have to actually click on some items to actually see if they are for our program. The recommended stethoscope is the $66 one by MDF, if you click on it you will see what I mean. It will say recommended for mohawk nursing at the top. However you do not have to buy this one as I said before. I was warned not to buy a stethoscope with two tubes because when they rub together it makes too much noise, myself I went with the Littmann classic ii.Not everything is marked but some things are for those of you looking to get a head start. You can also order your badges online beware that you buy the right one. Ours is green and actually says practical nursing student NOT student nurse.

Mohawk RPN January 2015?
Hey guys so here's what I know, you will find nothing out about supplies until orientation day as well as clinical and lab dates, however after talking to the girls at the store, your stethoscope can be any kind as long as it has a bell so you don't have to buy the recommended one on the titles Site. Your scrubs are listed on the titles website and they are marked required. As for the book list if it says access code and marked required it is part of the online bundle. There is only a $100 difference between the online bundle and the actual books. If you have bought the books read the access codes that have been supplied to you and do not log on to them until you need to because some of them are only good for 12 months. I bought everything from chapters and used my plum card and I saved bit. Don't forget you can submit your package with your temporary CPR certificate to get things going but once you have your plastic card you have to submit a photocopy of that. See you guys in a couple weeks

Has anyone heard anything about the january 2015 start yet?

Mohawk RPN Sept 2014
smarina is correct, there is another round which goes out after the conditional offers have been declined in May (generally may 1st). So probably a couple weeks after that something will be released. The waitlist will is ranked, so depending where you are on the list and how many positions open up will depend on whether or not you receive an offer.

Mohawk RPN Sept 2014
Hey Guys I got an email from ****** about the "no decision" status and unfortunately those of us hat have that didn't make it the first round, however some of us have been waitlisted. The waitlist letters will be going out at the end of the month with directions on what happens next.

Hey, Has anyone received an acceptance from Mohawk College for the September 2014 program yet?

Mohawk RPN September 2014
Wingsup, If you didn't put the Jan 2015 on your application then you will have to apply for that, you're not automatically considered. I believe the cut off for that is in either May of June (you can check on the Mohawk website). If you are waitlisted it simply means that if someone chooses to drop out or go to a different school then you may be made an offer. The deadline to accept an offer is usually in May. Not many people give up their spot so if you are waitlisted I would suggest that you apply to the Jan 2015 asap, remember you can always decline an offer but if the deadline to apply has past you will miss out.

Mohawk RPN September 2014
Hey, I also applied to Mohawk for september 2014 and the january 2015. I got in last year but I couldn't go because my boss wouldn't let me drop to part time. Last year they released the acceptances on march 12th but this year they seem to be running behind. LOL get used to that guys! FYI do not go to fennel campus for any questions they will just send you to McMaster IAHS because they don't have a clue, also don't bother with your "academic advisor" because he also doesn't have a clue. I would suggest that if you want anything answered get in touch with **** she's amazing and can tell you anything that you want to know. Have fun with the scramble this summer and try to keep your head. Also your book list drops 1 week before school starts and you don't get told your supply list until your orientation day as well as where your placement will be so don't bother asking because all you will be told is "you'll get that information at your orientation". Remember nothing will go exactly as planned so just roll with it! Hope to see you guys in Septmeber!

RPN wanting to get into orthopaedic nursing
Thanks for all your help guys, I had a feeling that I would need the perioperative course but I wasn't sure. I find it odd that they didn't list it as one of the requirements in the job listings though.

I agree people are crazy not to vaccinate!

Chemical restraint and lazy nurses
Although you don't have the power to physically dc the med in the am you can suggest it. If this is really bothering you, then you need to exhaust every avenue to make sure this patient is being taken care of. The night nurses won't have a problem with this or you because they'll still get their "quiet time" from this patient, the morning staff will have the change and will have to monitor him. Maybe suggest that you have the shift that the alterations happen on this way you remain actively involved in the case and you can see the physical effects that this is having on the patient.

Do you have a nursing specialty you know you want to pursue?
I really think I'm fit for Orthopaedic Surgery, I love the fast pace and sports medicine has alwasy interested me. However I think I'd do well in an ER as well.
