Hi everyone,

If there's anyone attending GBC or starting soon, unite! :)

I'm starting the PN program in Sept, it would be nice to find some people from my school & program here!

Hi,

Can anyone please help me on the pre admission testing in GBC. I have my test in mid march and have no idea of biology. I bought 4 books of biology as per the guidelines of GBC but don't know which is best to study, which one should I start with first. Pleeeeeeeeeeeease help me..... someone who knows what kind of topics are covered for the essay writing please let me know about this too......

You do realize that this isn't a chat room, don't you? You just posted 2 identical messages on other threads, which could be viewed as spamming the forum. This is the most appropriate thread for your plea. But... The people who visit here have jobs and families and the ones who may be able to answer your question may not see it for several days. You'll have to be patient. Meanwhile, think about what kind of biology knowledge nurses will use and study that.

hi,im gonna take up PN admission test this wed,any tips? my program is already closed but I just got a letter that i am waitlisted already..so what i did was applied for jan.2012 program for the same program again..is it helpful?and btw, I also applied for pre-health program..

hi, only english assessment for Pre-health program is needed to get in right?

I 'm pretty sure that's all, I can't remember anymore, it's been a couple years...

Hi guys!

Can anyone give me an advise for my situation?

I went to Centennial awhile ago to check the status of my application and I think I am in their waitlist for the practical nursing program. I am still taking my ENG 12C and CHEM11U this sem and this two programs are two of the required courses for their practical nursing program (ENG, CHEM, BIO and MATH).

I am not having a hard time in my english course but chemistry is really giving me a hard time right now. My teacher showed me my mark two weeks ago and I m getting a 70.

I talked to an admissions officer awhile ago and she said that they require at least a 65% mark for chemistry11U but they are sending out offers of admission to people who have obtained a mark bet. 76-100%.

I broke down into tears awhile ago because I just realized that Chemistry isnt my forte and if I fail it this June, I might not get in the Sept 2011 prgram. My parents would really be mad at me :(

I also received a letter from George Brown that I am in their waitlist. I think they're waiting for my english and chem marks too :(

Are there any ways that I can do to let the colleges consider my mark even if I get a 65% mark for chemistry?

If I take the Pre Health program at GB which starts at Sept 2011, will I still be able to make it for the Practical nursing program in January 2012?

No one ever seems to mention humber lol. I applied to both centennial and humber and I'm trying to decide between them. Centennial seems to get a lot of people complaining about it, but I'm not sure that means anything. Usually the people with negative comments are the most vocal. But even reading the MacLean's ranking of colleges Humber seemed to beat out centennial (which did really poorly) in almost all the areas. I haven't gotten a decision yet from centennial so I may not have to decide but I think I'm leaning towards Humber anyway and I have been accepted into their RPN program.

I graduated from George Brown nursing in 1994. The clinical experiences still haunts me today, the teachers were either lazy & didn't give a damn or raged at the mistakes or incompetance. The raging was like some military camp "shout at your face" style. Even the other RNs mentioned about this outrageous behaviour. Somehow George Brown believed that this will enhanced the clinical experience. It is not this particular teacher, other groups shared the same horror when we met at classes.

I went straight to the head & complained & repeated that semester, upon evaulation (semester 5), the teacher said to me

"you are imcompetant in your skill & knowledge, but I let you passed simply I don't want you to go upstairs (meaning Nsg. dept. head) and ***** about it. I predict you will not pass semester 6, and even if you do, you will not pass the board exam."

I passed semester 6 on 5Bell, the building has been demolished & rebuild now. I was promised a job upon getting my Ontario liscence, which I did.

During out break, us Brownies talked about our horrible experiences with the clinical teachers, nurses graduated from other schools laughed at us & thought we were joking.

My advice is, there are plenty other nursing schools in Toronto, I woulld not recommend this one.

Hi there,

Since most of you went to RPN at George Brown, I would like to ask for some advice.

I'll be taking taking the admissions test on Monday.

Also, I am just wondering if my marks are enough or should I upgrade it?

My marks are as follows: Grade 12 English (90), Grade 12 Math (86), Grade 12 Bio (85) and Grade 12 Chemistry (70) that leads me to an average of 82.75. Will I be able to get in with those marks?

Do not fear, marks are not everything. I just got accepted to george brown for RPN today. My marks were horrible. Grade 12 English (67), Grade 12 Math (N/A) I did grade 11 math and got a 62%, Grade 12 Bio (60) and Grade 12 Chemistry (51), kinesiology(75) and grade 12 physics(75%) that leads me to an average of HORRIBLE. I actually came back for 1 semester in highschool to get some courses I was missing. I took grade 12 math, grade 12 bio, and kinesiology. I ended up getting a 60 in bio, and failing math, well I pretty much did not even show up for math, it was boring and I honestly just slept in class until I felt I did not want to go to class anymore, and I got a 75% in kinesiology(exercise science) I am guessing I did really well on the admission test even though I literally studied only the day before. I would imagine I only studied for like 6 hours, not even really. I only had around 3 hours of sleep before the exam. My essay for the exam I thought was horrible and I honestly thought I did horrible on the editing the sentences of an essay part. Somehow I got accepted with these horrible marks and with a what I thought to be horribly done test considering my lack of studying time and being out of school since january.

I have applied for George brown for the Jan 2012. i got a letter few days back saying that I'm in their waiting list. Does anyone know how long they take to tell you their final decision? I'm really freaking out, 'cause I really want the admission at GBC. And is there anything I can do to get the admission? Plus, what are the chances that i will get the admission there? Please let me know guyz. Thanks!!

I wish I could help you :(, when did you apply for RPN at george brown? and did you already write the admission test? I would say your chances of getting admission are pretty low, as far as I know the the program is full and the tuition payment due date was november 4th, and course selection is on the 23rd, so your only hope is that someone does not pay for their tuition or if someone decides to drop out. :( good luck and I hope you get in.
