CNO fees
Hi, I've googled and searched the CNO's site but can't find anything on this. I just found out I passed my CPRNE last week and should get my police clearance next week. But before I send initial registration of $230 off to the CNO, am I going to have to pay another $175 membership renewal in December? I'm confused because their letter says memberships processed before dec 31 will be for this year but on their site it says 2014 fees not made before dec 31 will incur a late penalty. Should I just send them my left arm and leg along with my first born?

First year RPN student, really REALLY nervous about
It seems you're right. Not only were there quite a few mature students, there were quite a few men at the orientation :)

First year RPN student, really REALLY nervous about
Its funny, my orientation is tomorrow and I'm so nervous already I can't sleep so I'm up reading about nursing school and found your post. I just thought I'd post because our situations don't seem too different although you seem more worried about the prospects of the career after school whereas I'm more worried about what starts in a week and not so worried about afterwards. I'm male too and 33 years old and absolutely terrified of going back to school and with people almost half my age! Anyway, I wouldn't worry - I suspect we are all terrified for our own reasons starting a new program but that things will go well in the end. Now if only I could take my own advice

George Brown College
No one ever seems to mention humber lol. I applied to both centennial and humber and I'm trying to decide between them. Centennial seems to get a lot of people complaining about it, but I'm not sure that means anything. Usually the people with negative comments are the most vocal. But even reading the MacLean's ranking of colleges Humber seemed to beat out centennial (which did really poorly) in almost all the areas. I haven't gotten a decision yet from centennial so I may not have to decide but I think I'm leaning towards Humber anyway and I have been accepted into their RPN program.

RPN program admission cut off?
I could be wrong of course, easily. But I would think the nursing admisson numbers are sponsored by the province/federal government/estimated required nurses? I suspect if thats true attrition rates are also factored in and people that go for just monetary reasons are probably the first to drop out. Any rigourous school programme requires passion as much as intelligence and hard work. I think its hard to assess anyone's "rightfulness" to be in a programme - whatever it may be, but thats just my humble opinion. For myself as example, I think if I were being honest, I'd probably not be interested in nursing if it offered a pay of $12/hr. Does that make me a bad candidate? I want to nurse. I want a job I feel I'm making a difference at and that I can help people. But I also want a life of relative comfort. I don't need a lexus, but I don't want to walk to work either. I would guess a lot of people go into nursing *thinking* its what they want too; when really it isn't. I went into chemistry thinking it would be great only to find out he reality of a chemistry graduate is far from what I had imagined. Perhaps I took a spot from an aspiring chemist at UofT (although I doubt it - lots of empty seats and its not a high admission programme). But is that really my fault? I've been out for some drinks and probably rambling but I've seen this sort of mentality posted a lot in nursing threads - "only certain people have a right to be here". I think nursing is a noble profession and should definitly be selective, but who is selected I think is highly subjective - its hard to determine who will be a good and bad nurse? Maybe I'm wrong..I'm a chemistry student so far....chemicals =/= people lol.

RPN program admission cut off?
Thanks for the info. Since I won't be applying and finding out if I got in for nearly a year, I'm a little concerned about getting my hopes up over the next year but I had a 91% average in High school and a 3.0/4.3 over 2 years of university which are mostly math/science credits so I'm hoping that will put me in the clear. I really wish they'd post the average cutoffs for the previous year's intake on their websites. I realize it changes with circumstances and total number of applicants each year but it would really help to have a ballpark before you go putting all your eggs in one basket lol.

RPN program admission cut off?
Sorry, my question was vague, I meant the actual grades that are typically required for admission.

RPN program admission cut off?
I'm interested in applying to either George Brown or Centennial for their 2011 sept RPN program so I've got a while yet to make all my decisions and I'm sorry if this has been asked here but I can't seem to findt his information anywhere. Does anyone know what the general admission cut offs are for this program? I have some university courses under my belt but I got the impression highschool grades were still the main decision factor for applicants. Anyone able to offer some insight? Thanks :)
