2nd Entry Nursing Applications for Sept. 2013 - U of T, York, McMaster

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hello all, Just starting a thread here for any applicants to the 2nd Entry Nursing Program for U of T, York, and Mac.

People can:

-ask questions and/or post when they have received an offer of admission or rejection

-share their marks/volunteer experience

-support each other during the super stressful waiting game

-discuss application issues, essay questions, prerequisites, etc.

There was one last year and I found it super helpful to see what others were doing, when offers were going out, and which candidates were selected. It's also a good reference for next year's potential applicants.

For myself, I have applied to U of T, Mac, York, and Dalhousie, with an A- or 3.66 GPA overall and 3.63 in my last 30 credits (10 half courses or 5 whole courses). I do not hold a Bachelor degree, but am in 3rd year at York's Honours BA Psychology, and hold an Associate of Arts from Langara College in BC. I have several years experience volunteering for an inner-city after-school program, for a crisis intervention phone line, and with fundraising.

Last year I was rejected from U of T with 3.53 in the last 30 credits, and only 2 years post-secondary. I had a C+ in one of my reported pre-requisites.

Hope this helps everyone and best of luck to you all!!

Thank you all! I will likely be declining the offer from UofT as soon as I have a concrete acceptance letter from UWO. Hopefully UofT starts sending out some more acceptances soon!

Hi everyone,

I received an offer from York and Western on February 28th. My York offer just expired as of yesterday so hopefully that will open up a spot for one of you! I have tentatively accepted at Western as of last Friday (My offer expires March 22). I know it was up for previous debate earlier about OUAC and the cancelation of acceptances. I panicked when I saw this as well and called OUAC to confirm. Accepting at another university will NOT cancel your other applications- that wouldn't be fair since we paid to apply to all schools. You just cannot accept more than one school at once. So lets say I accepted Western- but then received an offer at Mac and wanted to change my mind- I could go on OUAC and cancel western and then accept Mac :) We have until June 3 I believe to change around if more offers come in! The only way you would loose an acceptance is if you missed the deadline for confirming the acceptance.

Hello helm1190! Congrats!! do you mind if you could share your avg in % ? thanks!! also did you apply to any other school?

Received an offer from Western on Friday March 22nd :) Still waiting on a few more schools!

I also received an offer from Western yesterday. Average of last 10 credits was 87%, and I will most likely be accepting this offer! Is anyone else set on going to Western?

Berty103,

I cannot tell you my exact average in percent unfortunately as my undergraduate school Wilfrid Laurier University uses letter grades. However, I can tell you my letter grades and hopefully that will help! Anatomy: A-, Physiology 1: A, Physiology 2: currently completing, Statistics: A+, and then I believe aside from those required prerequisites they take your last 7 credits is it? Aside from those courses, my last 7 credits included 5 A+'s and 2 A's. These are a mix of Biology and Elective courses as I am a 4 year honours biology program right now and will be graduating in April.

I applied to U of T, York, Western, Mac, Queen's, UBC and U Alberta :) I have only received another offer from York and Western to date! Tentatively I have selected Western and I love the way the program is set up, and can be completed in only 19 months. :)

Accepted to U of T today! Hope everyone else got some good news as well.

Hi Timhortons,

If you don't mind sharing what your GPA and such was, that would be awesome!?

Does anyone know when we have to accept offers from Trent by? My first choice is U of T, but I don't want to miss the Trent deadline...:s

Sure, my final year GPA was 3.91/2ish..(can't remember). My prerequisite courses required for UT, I had grades of: anatomy/physiology A-/B, statistics A-, humanities A/B+, life sciences A/A, social sciences A-/A. Hope this helps.
