NCLEX in Canada

World Canada CRNE

Published

Does anyone know when and if for sure that Canada will be administering the NCLEX for licensure? Also, when and if Canada does proceed with the NCLEX, will other countries such as the USA be able to practice nursing in Canada if they have already passed the NCLEX in their home country?

agree.. i also read that article.. im just wondering what nurses who previously passed nclex, can they used it? i hope so!

Hello, what is the process of getting your credentials to work in the Northwest Territories? Any help would be appreciated!!

Whether or not those who have passed the NCLEX in the past will be permitted to use it for registration in Canada will be for the Colleges to decide. They may choose to only allow those who wrote after a certain date to use it, or they may choose to go wider, but that hasn't been determined yet.

sapmoss, have you Googled the regulatory body for the NWT? Registered Nurses Association of NT\NU There, I did it for you.

Janfrn is right. It's up to each of the colleges to decide. I've personally been in contact with the CRNBC and they didn't have a definitive answer as of yet regarding a decision.

How This Change Affects Applicants Who Have Written And Passed The NCLEX Dating Back To 1982:

Effective Jan. 15, 2015*, applicants will not need to write the National Nursing Exam, as CRNBC will retroactively recognize passing NCLEX scores dating back to 1982.

Applicants will still go through the standard application process.

Applicants will still complete the Substantially Equivalent Competency Assessment (SEC), if required.

Applicants will still complete any required coursework before being eligible for the exam.

Once eligible to write the exam, applicants can either write the October CRNE (if the application deadline has not passed), or wait until Jan. 15, 2015 to be eligible for practising status.

If you have any questions, please contact CRNBC at [email protected] with the subject line "NCLEX."

I wonder if CRNM will have the same take on previous NCLEX writes?:bored:

I recently received eligibility to write the CRNE as a Manitoba candidate and I passed the NCLEX RN in 2008. I have one year to write and pass the required exam. Seriously considering between taking the CRNE this October or wait for a similar announcement (if there is one?)

I am scheduled for October 1st CRNE and I just received an email from the College (CRNM) that I have an option to withdraw from the exam. Effective October 2, 2014 the College will recognize previous NCLEX RN writes for the purpose of RN registration in Manitoba.
