Hello I am applying to LAC Allied School of Nursing for the Fall 2013 semester ADN program. I was wondering if any body else is applying to this school for the fall 2013 semester or if there is anybody that currently attends or has attended this school that has any advice or opinions about this school. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

Thanks! The breakdown is super confusing, but that is the score most places look at. I took the test at Goldenwest, so you might look around for other places offering it, but I also paid $70 to take it! I also applied at Goldenwest, Cerritos, Long Beach, CSULA, CSUF & El Camino. I tried at RCC but I was missing one class so they rejected my app.

That's an awesome score! Congratulations!! Was the test challenging?

Well, I am taking it at an ATI testing center. I checked with County and they stated they do accept scores for the ATI proctored exam locations. Costs an arm and a leg ($115) for the TEAS V, but its what works best with my schedule. Last thing I want is to be stressed because I am missing work or thinking about work when I need to be focusing on that exam!

I thought it was! I bought the book from ATI and a McGraw Hill practice test book and I still struggled a lot! Make sure you do a lot of practice, and read the book! Don't procrastinate like I did and only give yourself two weeks.

Thanks for the tip! I just finished taking practice test 1 in the book. I wrote down the areas i need to focus on and will go from there. If i didnt know the answer or it looked foreign in nature, i marked it wrong to include review. I didnt want to guess. If i guessed correctly, i wouldnt know that i didnt reaaaally know the concept! Did okay on reading, math and english. Science killed my overall score. At least i know where to focus my energy!

Hello I would like to know if anyone is currently attending this school or recently graduated. What do you think of the school? and what degree do you get when you complete the course? I'm very new at this and trying to figure out what is best for me in terms of degrees in nursing and how to go about it. I'm currently a phlebotomist and love what I do and thankfully this has helped me decide I want to go into the nursing fields. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You should register for an information session, which you have to do anyway in order to apply. You would get an ADN, which is an associate's degree. I applied and went to the inf session, but I ended up getting into a Cal State school so I didn't continue with this school. Best of luck!

How is it at Cal state? Do you like it? I'm going to call tomorrow and set up an appointment. I'm very scared and nervous to start the process as I have no idea where to start.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to update this thread a bit. I passed second semester and am currently on vacation! YAY! Second semester was very hard but I managed to get through with an A and B's. Second semester is really challenging due to all the new skills that are added (NG Tube, Foley Catheter, Insulin, IVPB to name a few). Also second semester requires the simultaneous care of two-three patients. Pharmacology class is hard due to the tricky test questions. We had an OB rotation and a peds rotation. These rotations were fun. I got to see a couple births. Med-Surg is by far the hardest class and clinical rotation. Test questions are extremely tricky and we had a lot of bad test questions. All and all county is still (in my opinion) a great school and I'm loving every minute of it. :)

I was accepted last week, but I already accepted a BSN program at Cal State so I declined their offer. Good luck to everyone!

Hello all!

tgcid00, I guess I will be starting in fall with your class since I am in the LVN-RN bridge this summer! I'm nervous to start as I have heard that 3rd and 4th semester are very difficult! Anyhow, I just wanted to touch base! I hope you have a good summer break!

That's great congrats on getting in welcome to County. The LVN transition course is really hard (I have heard). I'm sure they will prepare you well to join third semester. Can't wait to meet you and all the LVNs in the fall. :)
