LAC+USC interview new grad RN

Hey guys, I have a question. I had an interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam. I read in the letter that they are going to contact me if positions open up. I am a new grad RN. Have you been in my situation? How long does it take until they call you? Do we have another interview after the oral interview or this is it? Please share your experience with me..thank you

They called for an interview last friday.. Unfortunately I had to turn it down because Psych would probably be the last unit I'd think of for me. It's just not up my alley.. Sigh..

Hi, mamda...thanx for that info. it gave me hope to be in ICU as well... do you have any idea if they are still hiring in ICU? and i saw in this thread that there was only 2-3 position left for month of november to december but not sure of what area they are talking about? is that true? so sad if that's the case... i wanna work in the hospital coz i had a bad luck in nursing facility recently...=(

Khennely14, i'm not sure if they're still hiring new grads in ICU.. Positions open up depending on need and budget. Just keep on inquiring about RN I positions. An alternative is to start in med-surg or telemetry unit then transfer to ICU. About your other question, i think they were talking about start dates for those who got hired. There are 2 start dates in a month, either the 1st week or 3rd week. So for 2011, there are only 3 start dates left.. nov 1, 15 and dec 1 (correct me if i'm wrong about the dates)..

Nihaojailan, I could not do Psych either but it does seem like a good sign you received a call. Was this for LAC or HUCLA? I called LAC last week and they said I needed to send their resume and then just said they would call when something opened. It sounds like both places have their own method for doing things. I feel like I should keep calling, but I also don't want to pester them. I hope more positions open up soon!

^ it was for LAC, the interview was suppose to be yesterday. I did, too, faxed over my resume, eligibility letter and letter of intent for which units I was interested in to LAC the day after I got it and then they called friday to ask. I wish it was just the normal med surg unit haha. Yes I've been told the same thing at HUCLA she said to check again 1st week of Nov. Sad. I feel bad nagging them too haha but hey.. A girl's gotta do... Haha

Keep trying everyone! They do need nurses and things will definitely open up, its been a long journey for all of us and our hard work will pay off. Good luck to everyone working on getting into county positions, I will definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!!

@RNtriathlete I will definitely keep updating you guys as I hear stuff and how life will change as a working RN.

I haven't worked in two years because of school and trying to find a job so this will be a crazy new life but with great rewards. I'm very nervous and excited its been so long since I was in school I hope I can remember stuff!

I just finished my interview today.. And for me it didn't go well.. there's one queation that i can't answer.. Probably coz of nervousness. I was having sob and was really shaking. That's my first intrview from them.. Did anyone miss a question and still got hired?? O really hope i could get in...

What position did you interview for? Just keep your hopes high... each case is treated differently.

I have not come across anybody yet from this thread... sorry but I've been following this thread since I recently joined too. I consider myself still as new grad since I am still hopeful for a job too. Hopefully someone who will come across or on this thread will share their experiences. Congrats for those who got hired. Keep in touch. We need your support. :)
