Hey everyone,

I want to apply for csulb nursing program for spring 2015 cohort, is there anybody here who is applying for spring also? Do you think spring cohort is easier to get in?

I have a question, how do you calculate your points?

3. TO CALCULATE THE POINTS:

I've put my scores in bold, just replace with your own...

4.0 = (4.0 x 1) ----------------(SCIENCE PREREQ GPA x 1)

2.0 = (4.0 / 2) ----------------(PRE-REQ GPA divided by 2)

1.826 = (91.3 % x 2) ---------(TEAS OVERALL PERCENTAGE x 2)

1.800 = (90.0 % x 2) ---------(TEAS MATH PERCENTAGE x 2)

I have a score of 9.23 right now. Do you guys think I should take the TEAS again? I got 86.7% overall & 100% in math.

So I contacted them, and they told me to send in a …. so far I have a 9.23…..

Your prerequisite is what will hang you….

Are you sure about your score so far???

Assuming you have a 4.0 GPA (Science & GE)--and only have micro in progress--your highest possible score (counting your TEAS) would be a 9.178. How did you get to 9.23?

The Fall cutoff was 9.35, but It was only 8.92 for the prior Spring.

In conclusion, You're fine if the cutoff is closer to last Spring's. However,

To get a 9.35 you will need:

4.0 GPAs (Science & GE), plus a cumulative 196% combined "Math" and "Overall" scores (i.e 100% Math & 96% Overall)

Jawkee - 9.83

Jay Friday - 9.63

Angel_12 - 9.31

Shinfo - 9.294

Tashiamevans - 9.24

Nairb0888 - 9.21

Zohyea - 8.11

I have a 9.294 overall, so hopefully the spring cutoff isn't as high as 9.3 otherwise I'm probably on the wait-list. For future applicants reading this thread, take the TEAS as soon as you can so that you can allow yourself the 30 day waiting period to re-take the TEAS for a better score. I don't think there is a limit to the # of re-takes but you do have to wait the 30 days so plan ahead.

Did I calculate something wrong?

Specializes in SRNA, ICU and Emergency Mursing.

Yes, The Science GPA would be a 3.44.

5 units x 4 ( A ) = 20/20 (CHEM)

5 units x 2 ( C ) = 10/20 (MICRO)

4 units x 4 ( A ) = 16/16 (ANAT)

4 units x 4 ( A ) = 16/16 (PHYSIO)

-------------------------------------

--------------------- 62/72 = .8611 (grade-point earned / grade-point attempted)

---------------------

.8611 x 4 = 3.444 SCIENCE GPA

3.444 (Science)

2.000 (GE)

3.734 (TEAS)

----------------

9.178

Oh that's how the GPA is calculated? I thought it was A = 4, B = 3, & C = 2, that's why.

My Micro course is 4 units by the way.

Hey guys ,

i have a question ,I've read in the spring 2014 thread that they didn't have interview for the spring 2014 cohort , is it true ?im wondering if that's better !

Specializes in SRNA, ICU and Emergency Mursing.

It is like that (A-4, B-3, C-2) but you have to multiply by the number of units.

This is why an 'A' in a 1-unit Physical Ed class is not as valuable as an 'A' in a 5-unit course.

Your micro was only 4 units? Did it have a lab?

That would actually boost your science GPA to 3.529!

And your TOTAL is 9.263, (EVEN BETTER !!!)

You'd have a 9.73 if Micro was complete (with an 'A')

I didn't know there were 4 unit Micro courses

What school are you transferring from ??

Oh I had no idea GPA was calculated that way! Thank you so much for telling me!!

I'm transferring from LAVC; I see that you're from SFV as well! :D

I haven't heard about that, but I highly doubt that. It's part of the score system now so I'm pretty sure they'll have the interview for Spring 2015!
