CSULB Fall 2014

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey everyone!

Did anyone else apply to CSULB for Fall 2014? The school app was due last Saturday, and then we have the month of January to submit for the School of Nursing.

Based on previous threads, it looks like we are invited to an interview about a month after the deadline, and the cutoff was ~9.1 points.

Here are my stats so we can see how we stand this year!

Science GPA: 3.58

GE GPA: 3.77

TEAS: 97.3

TEAS Math: 100

I think that works out to about 9.4 points... the average keeps rising each year, so it would be nice to see where we all fall!

Good luck everyone :)

Hi! I know someone who is applying for this program too! Your information looks great and I think a 9.4 is a really good average! I think you have a great chance of making it so don't worry too much :D Hopefully someone else has more insight then me? hahah :D

Your stats look pretty good! I'm sure you'll get a spot.

I also applied to CSULB's program, but I have three borderline grades, which could mean a total point value ranging anywhere from a 8.955 to a 9.3... So I'm not sure if I'll get in.

Hopefully the average isn't too high this year!

Hey!

I think you have a great shot!! The last range CSULB posted was for Fall 2012, 8.81-9.89! The 9.1 was just from the forums, so who knows how accurate that is!

Are you applying to any other schools?

Thanks for the optimism! I need it lol.

Well, my back-up was Cal State Fullerton, but their nursing program is closed to 2014 transfers due to budget cuts. Soooo... it's just CSULB for me. If I don't get in then I will try again in the spring (I heard it's a bit easier to get into then?) and take more pre-reqs to see if I can get into any UC's.

I've heard that about Spring, too! Looks like there are usually are half the number of applicants, which is awesome.

And ugh that sucks about CSUF! It seems like a ton of programs are getting cut and it's so frustrating...

This wait is killing me... haha I'm so anxious and just want to start nursing school already!! Good luck with your 3 classes!

Hey everyone !!!

I too have applied for CSULB !!

I'm gonna turn in my nursing application this week!!

......and then chew my fingernails off over the next few months of waiting....lol

What other schools did y'all apply to? I guess LB doesn't give bonus points for working in the field?!?! that sux. I've been an EMT for a couple years.... well...

HOPE WE ALL GET IN, GOOD LUCK !!!!

I also applied for Fall 2014 at CSULB. My points are a little bit lower than I would have liked but I'm hoping the lack of activity in this thread is indicative of a lesser amount of applications this fall. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Just finished my TEAS at CSULB and turned in my nursing application for fall 14.. Good luck!

CSULA is my first choice only because its 5 minutes from my house. I would like LB too, just a further drive.

I retook the TEAS cause of a lower that desired English score (CSULA counts English, NOT math...lol). I had a 100 on my first math score, and a 90 on the second. But my English score was better on the second, so I used it...

If LB used past medical experience as a bonus (like all the other nursing programs) that would be awesome, but they don't...

Either way, I think I'm pretty safe with my score (9.626) Now for the LOOOOOOOOONG wait....

Hi All,

My daughter will also apply to Fall 2014, currently in her last semester Spring of pre-nursing prereq taking Anat at CSULB. Her overall score are not quite good as most of you here(look impressive btw :) ). We also applied at CSUSB but just got a denial email from them, apparently too many applicants and didn't meet their criteria(we didn't even turn in a nursing app with current course GPA yet..bummer). We missed CSUSM deadline for nursing last year, too bad. Not sure how much chances we have, if not getting this fall, but will definitely apply for Spring at other CSUs and even some good ADN RN programs at CC.

We are also planning as a backup plan, to take other major courses(Healthcare Admin, computer etc.) if she decides, or simply skip Fall 2014 and wait for Spring. Anyone plans to take classes during you wait?

What other CSUs besides LA offering Spring admission?

She will retake TEAS in 30 days from now.

Btw did you all complete all pre-reqs (look like you do)?

Has anyone else contacted CSULB to make sure their application was received? I've had bad luck with the mail before, so I emailed just asking if it made it there, and the response was "Do not contact the school of nursing about status of application until after April 1, 2014." Haha, so I guess it's just a waiting game now!
