CNA programs in orange or LA county

U.S.A. California

does anyone know any cheap or free CNA programs in orange or LA county? Thank you so much!

Specializes in Geriatrics.

I believe the ROPs are free (with certain conditions), but you'd have to pay for your books, uniforms, etc. You also need to sign up quick because they fill fast!!! Believe me, I tried all the ROPs first!

But you should look into these-

Orange County:

1. Central County ROP

2. Coastline ROP

3. North Orange County ROP

4. Long Beach City College - has a training class that enables you to take the state test.

Los Angeles County:

1. Citrus College

2. Chaffey College (maybe?)

3. Pasadena City College (maybe?)

I know there are more in LA County..it's just a matter of searching around a bit. Right now I'm going to Citrus' program, and the class was $100 (but ended up free with BOGG waiver). Then we had to buy the book ($70-$100), uniform, gait belt, and a few health tests. Basically a couple hundred bucks for only 8 weeks...and I really like it so far!

I hope this helps you out!!!

For a free list of CNA programs in California you may want to take a look at http://www.cnatips.com/classes/nurse-aide-ca.php. They have a very useful map that allows you to choose the region (county) of interest and the results include long-term care facilities, private schools and community colleges. As far as I know many nursing homes are willing to train for free but I would call and ask for specifics. Good luck!

hi. you can check GCC (glendale community college), Garfield Campus, or search for LAOC (LA Occupational something), there's one in washington/western. You can also check Country Villa, I checked their website and saw something about free NA training. good luck!

West LA College has a 3-month program during the Fall/Spring semesters. You also have the option of taking the optional Home Health Aide class after the CNA program ends.

I'm currently in cna training through Long Beach ROP sponsored by Goodwill, everything is completly paid for ex. state exam, fingerprinting, scrubs and etc. The course is only offered 4 times a year.

What about CNA through Red Cross? I know LA offers courses, but I don't know how expensive they are?

Anyone know about this?

Calinurse- How was your experience at the LB ROP?

I am a pre-nursing student and this program looked really good. I have never seen one that is this cheap! But it seems like h.s. students get first registration?

Can you tell me a little (or a lot :) about this program?

Did you have to take medical core?

The Red Cross CNA Training course costs $1755

Jewish Home for the Aging in Resesda, Ca will be offering paid training courses beggining in August, 2009. The number of the person to contact is 818-757-4418, the rate of pay is $8.55, the course is full time, likely lasting 5-6 weeks and the employment is also full time with an increased rate to 10...something an hour, the shift is likely to be graveyard upon licensure. However there is no contract requiring you to stay there upon licensure......

I also had a question surrounding the legality or requirements of my school. I checked out local schools, and the best I came up with was this small one that wasnt too far from me, and the Clinicals were supposedly going to be held in a nearby community as well, not too far. Understand, I take the bus, and do not have access to a car or a reliable ride. So when they told me the day before I was to report for clinicals, they told me it had been moved to Pasadena, over thirty miles from where I live almost, with no bus service close to it, and to top it off, they reduced the clinicals from twice a week from 4-8 to once a week at 4-7. For my required 100 hours of clinical this would take a little over five months. From a ten-week course, to a five month course.

Obviously I am dropping the course, and demanding a refund, which is permitted in our 'Agreement' but their advertising is deceptive, and I want to know whether or not to report them to the Better Business Bureau or the State Board.

The program is sponsored by Goodwill and Medical Core (only required for LB ROP) is a requirement before the clinicals. There are many programs through other ROP's. This program is so good and informative...late July is my state exam, they also assist with further education and employment

What if you have take A&P already? It seems medical core is a basic overview of these subjects . . .

I also looked at other ROPs, and they too require medical core, and it seems some of the other CNA courses through other ROPs are specialized for LTC, but I would like to work in a hospital.

Is there any difference in skills, or do they just call the same class by a different name b/c you take the same state exam?

Right now I'm going to Citrus' program, and the class was $100 (but ended up free with BOGG waiver). Then we had to buy the book ($70-$100), uniform, gait belt, and a few health tests. Basically a couple hundred bucks for only 8 weeks...and I really like it so far!

I hope this helps you out!!!

Hi,

about Citrus College, the website says classes start in september or october, would you happen to know if there's a mandatory meeting before enrollment or the start of class? Can i apply for the CNA class online?

Thank you

hey Arkhangelsk

I just saw your posting about the paid program, have you called already? Did you get a spot? How many spots are there? I am a pre-nursing student taking pre-reqs at Citrus College here in Glendora, and have decided that I want to go ahead and go the CNA route for several reasons (i.e. Money, Experience, ++) I started checking into ROP programs last week and have a orientation for the one I want to attend on Monday. I was thinking the ROP route because Its cheaper then paying a bunch of money that I don't have for some private school. But when I saw your posting, and seeing that their are programs that pay you while you learn out there, I am stoked.

Can you give me some more info?
