APU ELM Summer 2015

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello!

I don't see a thread for prospective students for Azusa Pacific University's ELM program for the Summer 2015 start so I decided to start one.

I am Vanessa and I am just about to send in my complete application packet this week. I am early though since the deadline is not until 1 July.

I hope we can support each other and update each other as we move through the process of applying/interviewing/admittance!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Just wondering - is anyone taking or has taken the online physiology class through APU? Does anyone want to sell their old microscope? Thanks!

If anyone has taken the online physiology class, how difficult was it? I'm a bit apprehensive of taking an online science class....:uhoh3:

Hi Everyone, Congrats on your acceptances, I'm accepted to the Summer 2015 Inland Empire Cohort. @Ajwri84, Did you create the facebook group? I'm wondering if I can get an invite? My email address is: [email protected]

Thanks!

Emailed to you a bit ago, sorry for the delay!!

Hi everyone! I will be starting at the Azusa SD campus this summer, I'm so excited! Can someone send an invite to me to join the fb page? I don't have fb, but my husband does, so I'll communicate through his page: [email protected]

Thank you!

Congratulations @jkaragan! I could not find your husband fb page. I think it has something to do with his privacy setting. Maybe you can try to look me up and see if that works? I'll PM you my email address.

Hi everyone

congrats to those who got into elm program at Apu...

I was thinking of apply to the ELM program @ APU do you know how the financial aid works since its a master can you get federal loans?

Also was it very expensive I am worried if I cant get federal loans would not be able to afford the program.

Hi @valplal 562. The ELM program is $592/unit so it's definitely more expensive than state schools but I am starting the program next month and I really think it's going to be worth it. Usually you will be taking 17 units per semester for the pre-licensure part which works out to $30,192 per year. Most people (including myself) get loans and you can get the Direct Stafford loan (up to $20,500 per year at ~6% interest) and pay for the rest with Grad Plus loans (~7% interest) up to the full cost of attending the program. It sounds like a lot but it's only for the first 18 months of the program and after than you will be able to work as an RN and get a jumpstart on paying back those loans and tuition will be cheaper for the master's portion since you'll be taking a lot fewer units at a time. As long as you pay back your interest in small payments each month (like $50 a month I believe), you won't have as much interest to pay back in the end so I think it seems totally doable and it's absolutely worth making the investment. APU is a highly respected school and it's less expensive than most private institutions in CA. Good luck! :)

I'm applying for Summer 16 and was wondering if anyone wrote more than the 1 to 2 page requirement for their personal statement. Mine runs over to about 3 pages.... I can shorten but I'm wondering if it's absolutely necessary.

Hello Everyone! I am looking in to the ELM program at APU, I just graduated from Palomar College & am waiting to take the NCLEX. Has anyone take classes on the San Diego Campus? Is it hard to get in to?

Also, I heard PLNU is doing a RN to BSN program? Any Advice?

Thanks

-Sandy

@morganw1 I would stick to following the rules just to be safe.
