Anyone going to Modesto Junior College?

I'm just curious! I'm just starting (at the ripe 'ol age of 35, LOL!) looking into a career in nursing. I've worked in hospitals and clinics doing medical transcription for years and years, and way back when used to be a pre-physical therapy major (I've taken chemistry, anatomy, biology...don't know if they would count, as it's been several years). I would be attending MJC for pre-reqs and (fiingers crossed) the nursing program eventually and I would really love to have a student's view, how difficult it is to get into the program, any general advice, etc.

Whoops...just reread Baxter's comment...her sister was called in off the waitlist...was a few years ago...I thought it was this week.

I agree with you waitn4eternity, I think both Fall and Spring have been selected already because that's what would make sense. I just got confused when I saw that post. Can you tell I'm getting a little bit impatient in trying to figure out what being on the wait list means? :uhoh21: I'm not getting my hopes up in getting a call, but knowing that's there's still that small chance is a little unsettling.

Hey everyone! Good news for me! I'm in the top 60 on the wait list and I called *************** at the office and she told me I'm low on the wait list and I'm probably not in for fall but spring is looking pretty definite! She told me I need to send my teas test scores over whenever I can! She also said that I will have a for sure answer by the time fall semester starts but it's looking promising for spring! You all should give her a call! She can tell you what it's going to look like for you! Good luck wait listers and congratulations to the people that do get in!!

Hey ronneep, thanks for the exciting update! I hope you get in, that would be great! =) I spoke to *********** a little while ago and I'm a little bit further down the list but she said I still had a chance for Spring. She wanted me to take the TEAS so I signed up for a testing date. Good thing I got a study guide just in case! =) I asked her if for Spring I wouldn't find out yes/no until just before January, but she said it's less common to get a call right before classes start. They strive to let everyone know before the holidays so people can get their lives in order, and I might get a call around mid October. I'd probably call at the end of October if I don't hear from them just for a status update. Be sure to let us know if you get in! Good luck to all us wait listers! =)

Nice! That's good still! She told me that I'd have an answer by the time school started and now I'm wondering if she means before spring semester. I was assuming the end of this month... I think I'm going to call again just to make sure!

Since you're in a better spot on the list you'll probably find out earlier than October. Good luck! =)

I called in again this morning and talked to ---------. I asked her since spring was looking definite for me, was I going to find out before spring semester or before school starts this August. She replied and said without giving out too much information, they are trying to get things settled and that's why they haven't notified wait listers yet. She said they're hoping to notify us before school starts this August!

I called the office this morning and they said it looks very promising that I will get in this Spring too!!!:yelclap: I am sooo happy! They want me to come and take my TEAS test this THursday. I'm nervous, I haven't studied for it. Does anyone know where to buy a study guide?

Roneep, kawaii...maybe we will all get in together in the Spring! Roneep...your profile picture looks familiar...do you go to Seacliff beach this summer?

That's great news ronneep, I'm glad you'll get to know sooner rather than later! =) Waitn4eternity, I am soooooo happy you have a good chance of getting in, that's exciting! =) I would check out a bookstore like Barnes and Nobles since you're short on time. I picked up the McGraw-Hill's practice tests because it got good reviews on amazon and was affordable, but I know there is an official study guide available as well you might want to check out. I take my TEAS next Tuesday and I'm trying to study for it while I study for my cultural anthropology final this week..I'll catch up on sleep next week! =) Good luck on Thursday, and again I'm really happy for both of you! Hopefully I'll be able to join you in the Spring as well!

I'm so happy for you guys having a great chance of getting in! I didn't get in, but was shocked I even was qualified in the pool being that they follow the chancellors model achieving the cut score. Good luck to you all.

Waitn4eternity & Kawaii, congratulations! Hopefully we can all do it this spring together! Woohoo! I want to know 100% so I can great really excited! But no, I don't think I was in Santa Cruz this summer... I went to Capitola for father's day though! My profile picture was from my health science affiliated trip to West Africa :-)

I ordered my TEAS book off the ATI site because I took it a few months back and it was brand new and only sold on there. You can find it at Barnes & Noble though! Or Amazon if you have time to get it shipped. The first time I took it, I didn't do too well but the second time I had a substantial increase.
