Moving to Az in August

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

My family (Mom and Sister), moved to Arizona last year and have convinced me to give it a shot. I am currently talking with different travel companies to find out what they can offer me in that area. I am an L&D nurse and have worked in hospitals that do as much as 250 births a month down to hospitals that do 40-50 births a month. My family lives in Florence, so I am thinking of something in the east valley. Does anyone have anything good/bad to say about facilities in this area?

Thanks

Heather

LOL, your family lives in Florence, AND they like it enough to actively recruit you to AZ? That's hilarious.

Anywhow, from Florence, Casa Grande is close. I dont' hear the best on how they treat their core staff, but if you were to travel or do angency there I hear they treat you OK.

I also hear that it's $45/hr for agency.

Laughing at where someone's mom lives? That is really rude of you.

Why must people be so sensitive to the simpliest of comments? Do you know anybody who lives in Florence?? Have you even been there???

I have, and I say, :lol2:

I'm confused. I'm thinking of the small town, Florence, between Tucson adn Phoenix. But Anthem and Florence are nowhere near each other. Is there a Florence subdiivsion in Phx that I'm not aware of?

hi... i don't know anything about the way nurses are treated, but i do have an aunt who is a realtor/broker that can get you a house. if you are interested let me know. i can give you her information.

my sister also lives in glendale, az. her & her family moved there 5 years ago from ny. she said he will never move to the east coast again. she just loves the state. i have been there myself 5 times. the weather is just wonderful. july is the hottest month also with electrical storms, but they are so cool.

i do see people are thinner living in the warmer climate. i thought about moving there too, but i have family here that i would miss too much.

i do wish you good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Hey Cardiac,

I understood what you meant about Florence, but you should see it now, I went down to visit a friend a few weeks ago and was shocked, I was expecting the same rural community that I drove 10 or so years ago. There is another Anthem (similar to the one far north) down there, new development -- 1-2 years old at most -- really nicely done. Not what Florence used to be for sure, though not many of the out-lying areas are what they used to be either.

nhnurse1,

Sorry no ideas for you, I'm not very familiar with the east/south part of Phoenix area, and I'm clueless about Casa Grande or Tuscon. If you want to live in Florence like your mom, I don't think you will have that many close choices hospital wise close. But if you wanted to live in one of the eastern suburbs of Phoenix (Mesa, Queen Creek, Gilbert, Apache Junction, Chandler) I hear that there are several new hospitals opening and a lot of nice housing. And it wouldn't be a super long trip to visit your family.

Good Luck!

Let me sort out the confusion there are two anthems one up north and a new resort typehomes built near florence.

I am an L&D nursewho works at banner medical center mesa soon to be Gateway medical center Gilbert inthe east valley approx 160 births a month and I love- working there so you could try us great team great managment.

Ok, so we are talking about the same Florence....

I would never recruit someone there in a million years. But, that's just my honest opinion based on living there for several years.

I was thinking the same thing about Florence, amazed that someone liked it enough to recruit someone to living there. But to each their own.

As far as places to work, there are some threads in this forum that have a lot of posts with opinions on different hospitals in the valley .... do a search and check them out. Good luck to you!

And you're coming here in August? Great time of the year here!! ;)

Just wanted to add that there is a great new neighborhood in the Florence area which may be where your family lives.....the new Anthem community. I drive by it occasionally and it looks very nice! I always wondered where the people who live there work though because it's pretty remote.

However, I recently learned that they are building a brand new Banner hospital at Gantzel aka Ironwood and Combs. It's considered Queen Creek, but close enough to Anthem that the commute would not be bad at all! I'm looking forward to this hospital, as it is pretty close to me too.
