Verah interesting........

Looks to me like it's a separate application process. Don't know what the wait list is like for it, but for those of you on the waitlist for the RN program, it might not hurt to apply here too. You qualify.

October 20th 2008..

I had just about given up and was wondering if anyone had heard then my husband brought in the letter tonight when we got home. It was in yesterday's mail. We moved so we didn't get the mail yesterday.

Ok, so there is hope for some????:yeah:

Holy Smokes!! You just applied a few months ago!! I thought pretty much every where had years of waiting to get into any type of nursing program.

How did you get in so soon?

Okay I just looked over the spring application..(assuming it might be similar to fall, or whenever the next start is..)..

All the vaccinations, I have no idea what ones I have gotten in the past. So does that mean I have to get all of them again? I got a TB at RSAA in June, is that good enough for that??

Also, what type of CPR will they accept?

Thanks

(P.S, is FALL 2009 another start date or is it just once a year?)

I have no idea how I got in so soon, just luck, as it was lottery style from those of us that applied with completed applications. ( After they placed their partner program & any hold overs from the last application period.) My friend and I went down and although she was put on a waitlist she was number 2 and has a spot now too. There is a day & night class now, however, I have no idea if they are starting again in the fall.

OK... so if you have proof of immunization then that is all you need for the MMR,Varcella, Hep B & Tetnus. You can have blood tests drawn to check your titers for the immunizations before you have any of them again. You have to have a physical and a TWO step TB. The one you had for the CNA class is not enough! Many people had their applications rejected this term because of the TB being done incorrectly or incompletly. Read through this thread we discuss the proper TB method. Check the next application before you get these done as they do expire. CPR is CPR for the heathcare provider.

Orientation is on the 6th... so I don't know much more about the program. But I will post when I do.

Thanks!! I just called Gateway and they said the Fall 2009 application comes out in March.

Congratulations to everyone who got in!

I did the LPN fast-track in 2008 and passed block 1 but did not pass block 2 by a couple of points. I then was re-admitted the following semester and again failed by 2 points. I would not recommend this program to people. When I took it there were so many teacher changes and such disorganization, I was not happy with gateway in the least. :angryfire Since LPN's are being outsourced in the hospitals in 2012, I would go straight to your RN and bypass this program. In all honesty I wasted a lot of time and money with this program and got nothing out of it but stress and frusteration.

I'm now in GCU's fast-track BSN program and am over 60% done with their program and love it. :heartbeat

If anyone wants to chat more about the gateway program please do, as I have given honest feedback.

I was really going to try to get into the Gateway program because it looks like they don't require so many pre requisites except for the NUR 158. But, is the program really that bad?

I am a teacher, and was going to apply to get into the weekend/night program.

I am currently in block 1 in the afternoon program. It is what you make of it. It has been far more difficult than I ever expected. I applied to the fast track because I had been waiting on the list for the RN program for over a year and was just trying to get my foot in the door any way I could. I actually didn't expect to get in until Spring, but luckily they opened a 3rd class so I got in right away. I do not plan on working as an LPN, this is just a means to an end....getting into block 3 as advanced placement. It is a whole lot better than waiting around for 2+ years to get into the RN program.

There are positives and negatives to this and any program. I have a lot going on my evaluation at the end of the semester. Overall, I am learning a lot and getting to do a lot in clinicals. It is ALOT of study time and do not plan on having a life what-so-ever. I also work full time and applied to the night program, however, that isn't what I got. Luckily I am able to be flexible with my job. Also, even though the only requirement is the CNA, I would HIGHLY recommend having had your anatomy courses done plus a med terminology class. You are expected to know these things right out of the gate. The people in our class who did not have this background are really struggling. This is a very fast-paced course and they don't slow down at all.

Good luck with your endeavors!

The only one I would be able to do is the night/weekend program becuase I have to work. Will they allow you to just select that option?

I agree about waiting for the RN program. This seems the fastest way to get started.

There is no weekend program, only morning, afternoon, evening. On my application I had marked as my ONLY option the evening program and even had a discussion with the person I turned it into that I worked and needed the evening program. HOwever, that is not what I got selected for. Instead, they put me in the afternoon program, which wasn't an option on the application, as it was put toghether at the last minute. I am just glad I got in, but just a note for those who are wanting the evening program.

Just curious, what are the days and times of this program?

I am taking a risk saying this but I waited in line for the FTPN program to apply for like an hour last week. While I was there, 8 people were re-applying. They told me they took the program and failed it last semester. I don't feel its fair to get admitted ahead of everyone else who is waiting. There is typically a one semester wait period. IF you fail you should have to wait like everyone else does. I know it is a lottery so I could get in next semester or wait until fall. I feel they should not be in the lottery just told to wait one semester. The guy ahead of me said he did'nt really try so he failed. Why should he get in before me? I busted my butt to get where I am. I am not sure the policy but I feel like you had your chance and failed, you should not have priority over me or anyone else who has'nt had a chance yet. Things happen and some people have to drop out I understand that. I am not saying everyone, but if you take the course and fail. You should have to wait a semester to get back in.:angryfire

On another note. I am really nervous about the wait. We will find out in about two more weeks who gets in or not. I am not getting my hopes up but its hard not too. There were so many people applying! Good luck to everyone. I am sorry if I offened anyone I just needed to get that out!:D

I'm about to finish up Block 2 and I just wanted to drop a note to those of you in Block 1 now feeling overwhelmed, scared and excited all at the same time.

Block 2 is NOT as hard as Block 1. Its a whole new world thats for sure and NOTHING like Block1. Its alot of information, but I think the topics were far more interesting and clincals sure were better. We are all doing well, dreading the HESI and final, but overall there is a feeling of excited anticipation. Well at least for me that is.

For those going into Block 1... head the warnings of my previous posts and those in Block 1 now. Its hard, its alot of work, but it is doable and can be done! If you have already done A&P it does make it a bit easier! I very much like the experience I got from the program and am glad I chose to go there. It does have its issues and Block 2 was not as smooth as Block 1 in organization ( if thats saying much) but its worth it!
