BIO 202 at RIO (online)?

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

I'm trying to decide if I should take BIO 202 online at RIO this summer.

I checked out the mini syllabus and the mention of only 2 tests and essay questions kind of scared me off.

Anyone taken it there? Was it really hard?

I would :redbeathe to be able to get it out of the way. If I finish BIO 202 & the CNA course this summer I could get into nursing school in Jan. If I don't, I'd have to wait until Fall 09. Thanks.

Does Phoenix college offer BIO 201 online as well ? Would you have to go on to the campus to take any exams ? I live out of state and i am trying to take BIO 201 and 202 ONLINE.

Yes, Phoenix does offer both courses online. I have heard really good things about their online anatomy courses, so if I go the online route for 202, I will definately take it there. I am not sure how they handle the exams. Also, not sure how they handle out of state students. You can contact the college directly to find out. Good luck.

if any one has taken bio 201 at Phoenix college could you tell me if you had to go on campus for any of the exams and the lab?? i'm asking for all of us out of state that would like to take this class.

for the ones that took the bio at RIO did you have to go to a lab or in the classroom for exams or was everything over the internet? again this is coming from an out of state student.

how much is tuition in AZ for a community college? here in CA is $20/unit

I just called the school to get more information on the online BIO 201 class. Out of state students would not need to come in to take exams. However, exams may be proctored so arrangements must be made with the instructor to complete those exams at a college or library where you live. Many students from across the globe take this particular class and classes fill up rather quickly. All summer sessions are full since classes have already begun and instructors do not accept overrides. Fall schedule is already available and we (out of state students) must pay the out of state fee. Also, this class is transferable to any other AZ colleges (I didn't ask about it transfering to other schools). Good luck, i may sign up to take the one offered in Fall.

Testing has been covered; but, basically you setup a place to take the exam with a proctor (a local school/teacher/officer (if in the Military) might agree to sit with you).

Labs are done at home and results are submitted online.

CA prices are much, *much* lower per unit.

Specializes in Cardiac Care.

Rio in state was $65 a unit (credit) out of state is much higher. I'd stick with CA if I were you.

Specializes in Med/Surg, ICU, ED.

I took Bio 202 through CAC and loved it. It was straight forward and required a moderate amount of work. The instructor was good/fair.

Yup, I'm taking it at CAC and I'm about 2 weeks in. So far so good. I got a B on the first test! Yippee! The class average isn't very good, so I was happy about the B. :yeah:

I am taking 201 right now and it is really tough. I took 156 online trough Rio, and 201 has been much much more difficult. Most of the quizes are timed, so you might get 25 minutes to answer 50 quesitons - totally stressful. I think some of the essay grading depends on your instructor. Overall it is convenient, but from what my friends have told me about an in person class, it is also way more work online. But if you have a lot of time and are self-motivated, then you might be ok. I work more than full time, so this is really the only option for me. I will be starting 202 next month (hopefully if I can do ok on my final). I was considering taking the 8 week, but after what I have on some of the replies in your post, I think I will take the regular 16 week.

Just noticed a few other questions and thought I would answer them. I am in Tucson, so I take my exams at the local community college (Pima), and they send them back to Rio. There is no chrage to do it. The course was $300 instate and $400 out of state.
