I just graduated from a nursing school in the phils. I wasn't able to take the local board bec. my immigrant visa was about to expire.I was lucky that i was able to finish my course there. My question is do you really have to be a local board passer so you will be eligible to take the CA NCLEX here?I mean even as an immigrant? And for all those foreign grads how long did it take for your application for licensure to be processed?:uhoh3: just wondering....

hi,,, is it true that before you apply for NCLEX u must first apply for a hospital so that when u pass, ul automatically start ur job???

hi nikuy. not true.

hi... if you want to know the requirements regarding nclex in ca go to this site www.rn.ca.gov, there's this acrobat reader, where they have the application form all the things you need to know. i've read that in taking nclex if you don't have a license in the phlippines..you only need to write them a letter stating why you don't have the license. Well, i guess they only want to know if your denied, or license was revoked..watsoever.

Anyways, i would like to ask you some question. My husband filed a petition for me and its still in the process. I was thinking since I'm not doing anything right now i want to take the Nclex RN in hongkong this november so that when if luckily i pass the Nclex then when i get to california when my pertition is okay. i'l be licensed already. is that possible? Thnk you for replying.

hey bhaby gurl, well according to what the peeps from pentagon sez, as soon as you pass the nclex exam, and pass for everything including ielts, the Visa for nurses are immigrant visa meaning they can bring their immediate family (husband and children) with them. That is what i have heard from the immigration seminar when i attended last July 28.

Does anyone here know if California Board of Nursing will send an applicaion packet for NCLEX to the Philippines? If so, how to request them? thanks for any help.

Hi chick_pea.. in your case as an immigrant, No, you dont need to take your local board. Then submit a letter along with your application that you didnt take your board in the philippines simply because you're an immigrant and u intend to work in the US.

Im a nurse in the Phils. Planning to take nclex this year. Thank you so much. You have answered my questions. Im as well confused with the reciprocity. Where did you take ur nclex? How much will I prepare for the exam? Total expenses? By the way, Im clueless of the steps in how to apply for nclex. How can I have an application form? Pls advise. Tnx

my

hello colleagues..if ur planning to take the nclex, my advise is that never apply the cali NCLEX. besides the long processing time, the exam is really tough. before, i was planning to take it, but some of the nurses i've met told me to apply vermont's, which i did. good thing i listened, coz it took me only about 2 months to receive my eligibility (may be lesser if they didn't ask for another requirements from my college). saves a lot of time...and one more thing, i was able to know that i passed after 2 days because vermont does have quick result service while cali doesn't (u need to wait a month for your result..what an agony!). u might as well try new mexico, ohio, minnesota, etc. and just apply for reciprocity/endorsement in california board of nursing. i had mine reciprocated in just a few months. good luck!

there is no such thing as reciprocity between states. you will not even see an application for that. the only thing that has reciprocity is the nclex exam, menaing that you still need to complete the license by endorsement application for which ever state that you want to endorse to.

please take the time to read the "primer" at the top of the international forum, it will clear up much mis-information that many of you have.

hi! im reading all the posts here and somewhat enlightened... thanks to those who take the time to answer.

anyway, i'm also an immigrant and was wondering before if i have to take the local board. i didn't know until now that i could bypass the local board and take the nclex-CA RN. well anyway, i would just like to know if i have to take any english exam like IELTS/TOEFL/TSE? i will be migrating next year, hopefully after passing the local board here in the Phils.

thank you so much! :)
