Licensure requirements for CA for foreign grad

World Immigration

Published

I just graduated from a nursing school in the phils. I wasn't able to take the local board bec. my immigrant visa was about to expire.I was lucky that i was able to finish my course there. My question is do you really have to be a local board passer so you will be eligible to take the CA NCLEX here?I mean even as an immigrant? And for all those foreign grads how long did it take for your application for licensure to be processed?:uhoh3: just wondering....

my classmates who applied for ca last july 06, already got their eligibility now so that's only 3 months in the process. wow!

so may you state in a letter that you will only need to submit your bsn diploma and an explanation that at this point you still don't have your license but do not wish to practice here in the philippines, but rather than gain experience here before finding work.

people say that the ca process takes long but they are to take the exam this december, so its not that long actually.

average time is about six months, not three. that is unusual, and for some to depend on that timeframe, makes no sense at all.

and it depends on where they went to school, and if the brn is very familiar with that program...........

but the major point that you are leaving off is that it is one month until the nurse will get results, since they do not have a ssn#, and then they will not get a license either, only a piece of paper that states that they passed the exam, therefore cannot endorse to another state, as there will be no license number to endorse.

just something to think about...........since i do not know anything.

I guess the school is one factor, we graduated from a university and most graduates apply for CA. also didnt indicate that they took the exam so the process was faster.

if you took the exam but wont work here primarily, will CA accept you provided you explanain to them and also send you diploma instead of a license.

tnx

CA will not send anything other than a letter that a nurse has passed the exam, if they are foreign, until they get a SSN and submit it to them.

The process is faster only if they are familiar with the university, and for no other reason. Each application is handled by a human and depends on how many that they have in their pile to go thru. Quit trying to read things into it. You are speaking of one group of friends, I am tellng you what happens most of the time from years of experience HERE IN THE US.

And for the one millionith time, if that exam was written in June, the NLE; CA is the least of your problems, CGFNS will not issue you a Visa Screen Certificate and therefore you cannot get a visa to work in the US.

And you are bouncing around between state to state, where do you wish to work? And then focus on there and doing what you need to do...............

'and for the one millionith time, if that exam was written in june, the nle; ca is the least of your problems, cgfns will not issue you a visa screen certificate and therefore you cannot get a visa to work in the us.'

what do you mean by this paragraph?

my 1st option is nevada but as you said cgfns will not process ces for those who took the exam, so it will take a really long time before everything is settled. unless cgfns will alow anyway ces doesn't validate your license but your credentials.

as for ca, will they accept applicants who took the june nle?

not that i am aware of, have not seen one get permission to take the nclex. but again, you are not paying attention to the fact that cgfns will not issue you a visa screen certificate, and therefore you will not be able to get a visa/green card to work in the us.

get things done so that you can get a visa, and that means that you will need to rewrite that entire exam. no other way around that, cgfns has already stated that. it is up to you to do things the correct way, or deal with the consquences later.

i have said all along, and since before last year not to even bother writing the nle exam, and for those of you that did, it turned around to bite you on the butt. so please listen now, and do things the correct way.

hmm ic, i guess i'll start with a working visa then whenever i pass the nclex.

but i'll have to clarify with cgfns abt the ces matter, if not then i'll apply to the other states,

the reason why i took the nle, is other than to gain some experience here but since it is require to have a license for CGFNS exam...its just that this was not a gud time for us all...

may i ask a link to the official statement of CGFNS regarding this matter? tnx

you are not heairng one word that anyone is telling you.

there is no such thing as a working visa, the only thing that is available to you is the green card. and even if they had the temporary visas like they did in the past, you have not bothered to even look at that, it still requires the visa screen certificate. that is where you have the issues, to get any visa to care for patients in the us is out of the question until that exam is repeated. you must have a visa screen certificate. period.

and trying anything else to circumvent us law is grounds to be deported.

please take the time to do things correctly, you have months to get things fixed.

you want to waste time, waste it.

Sorry, but you never took the time in the beginning to read anything. CGFNS exam is only required for about five states out of the entire US. It was not necessary to even think about writing it for most of the states in the US. It would have been much better if you would have done some research back then, before looking for shortcuts out of a pickle now.

is the payment for the cali board is like the cgfns! using bank draft!!! thanks

CA BRN will in fact only accept bank draft as mode of payment unlike CGFNS that accepts credit card as well.

you do not need to be a local board passer just to take the nclex.i got a friend who came in to the us after graduation and took the nclex.now she is working as an rn in a big hospital.
