To file an exception to any thing costs tax payers money. It takes government extra time to process things, that is why there is a term , cutting the red tape. CA is looking for a federal bailout, that is my money. I am sick of the taxes one has to pay in the USA. My local taxes, my state taxes and now it looks like my federal taxes are going up. I am looking to my government to reduce costs. By granting exemptions it costs tax money.

Instead of clerk processing 10 forms now the time to file an exception has to be done. This is very labor intensive. I deal with government agencies all day long - the way that they process information is slow. It comes to a halt when there is anytime except the norm.

My dealings with my government is that the rules are the rules. I don't ask for special favors. When I travel to another country I have NEVER asked for any special exceptions to the rule. I obey them.

I have no issue with foreign nurses, I do have issues with people trying to beat the system. This applies to Americans also who do not follow the rules.

Lets go back to what was being discussed here and not personal attacks on others please.

The question being discussed was if one can apply for an extension to the BRN if they do not hold a SSN#. And the answer is yes, but they only issue the extension once and are not required to do so.

If one gets the license issued with the ITIN#, no matter how it was submitted to the BRN; the issue then becomes that the license cannot be renewed without the SSN#. This license when issued is only for two years, one year short of the three that is permitted with the letter from them. There are never any extensions made to permanent licenses if you do not obtain the SSN# within the required two years then. Your license will them become inactive and cannot be used to endorse to any other state as well. Next problem is that if you do not have current work experience as an RN somewhere in the world and then wish to renew/reactivate the license years down the line, you are going to be required to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam once again. This is the same for other states as well if a license becomes inactive and there is no current work experience as an RN in any locale.

It comes down to not being helpful to submit the ITIN# to get the license, it costs you an extra year.

    Hi silverdragon!

How does one transfer the NCLEX-California result to the Illinois Nursing Board, in order to get a permanent license? I've visited the Illinois Nursing Board site and I am not quite sure which form to use--is it the application for endorsement (don't have a license from CA; just a notice of passing and produce the SSN) form?

    Thanks.

You need to apply to Illinois for application by licensure, meet foreign nurse requirements and then complete a form for Ca and request they forward your NCLEX results to Illinois

You mentioned a form for Ca --- is this a downloadable form from the CA website or do I have to request for the form in writing? Thanks again.

There is a form from Ca that you use and I can't find it at the moment. Have a look yourself otherwise I am sure some members who have been through the process should be able to point you in the right direction

If you have a license then it is endorsement, if you have no license because you haven't been issued on due to no SSN then you complete application for exam and get BON/BRN to forward results
