ANY LPN'S FEEL LIKE NO ONE BUT LPN'S THINK WE ARE REAL NURSE'S, NOT NA?

Where I work LPN's are treated just like the RN. There is equal respect. We do have an occasional person that does think RN's are better but this is rare. In any facility you will find some good RN's and LPN's and then some that are bad. I don't think that it's the title that matters, it's what you know.

I am an L.P.N. with 5 years experience If you get no respect from your peers it is time to find a place to work that will treat you as a nurse, I am employed as a resident care manager and m.d.s. coordinator(my don signs my mds), my d.o.n. saw my potential and helped me to flourish and given the opportunity I think any lpn can advance to do all kinds of things...move to vegas..great pay..lots of sun!!

Hello, i was just wondering what the pay is like for a RN there in Vegas. My husband and I were married there and we love it!!!!

I'm a new LPN and was a NA for a long while and to become a LPN was a great deal to me but the place where I worked was the same, LPN was not real just little play nurses it bothers me that there is people who feel like that I respect RN's and understand that there is a difference between LPN's and RN's
but I feel that I am a nurse too. Plus I don't mind the feeling of being like a NA as some RN feel(where I worked) because I got to spend more time with my patients and not doing paperwork. That is one of the reason I'm debating about become an RN at the moment but I know I will in the future.

I'm an LPN working in a hospital out-pt specialties dept. I can relate with your frustrations. I also feel there is a lack of respect for LPN's. I do the same work and in some case more and I'm getting half the pay. I've had to save a couple of RN's from making medication errors and it goes unnoticed, no "thank you". They're to proud to admit to their errors. I would like to let them make their mistake- but not at the expense of a pt. I've heard patients and some employees say that LPN's are not nurses. They are not RN's. What a crock.
I'm a very good "Nurse." I love what I do. So I decided to go back to school, not for the RN title but for the salary it will entitle me if I do. We as nurses regardless of title must banned together. WE are overworked, underpaid and ready to stab each other in the back. We must unite and stick together. Be strong!!!!!!!

I HAVE BEEN IN LONG TERM CAREFOR 17 YRS & I'VE SEEN SOME TOILETS, BELIEVE ME. WHERE I WORK, I HAVE THE "FACT" OF KNOWING MORE THAN THE OTHER RN'S-SAVE FOR IV'S- (I KNOW I COULD LEARN & SURPASS THE RN'S--NOW BEFORE YOU RN'S GET HOT UNDER THE COLLAR, NOTE THAT I SAID "WHERE I WORK (NOW)" THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I AM SMUG ABOUT NOR SUPERIOR ATTITUDE ABOUT--IT'S FACT. THE D.O.N. DOESN'T KNOW THE SIMPLEST PROCEDURES( I.E. HOW TO DO FSBS,HANG A ENTERAL FEEDING,THE LIST GOES ON- WHAT KILLS ME IS THE MISTAKES THAT ARE MADE IN CHARTING, WHEN SHE THINKS THAT HER CHARTING CARRIES SO MUCH WEIGHT!!! I HAVE LAUGHED AT THE R.N. THAT HAS BECOME A "SUIT" (VS. WE "SCRUBS")AND THINKS THAT THEY MUST CONSTANTLY SHOW THEIR SUPERIORITY IN SUCH PITIFUL WAYS--YOU SEE, THE GOOD LPN/LVN 100 ERRORS ON MED SHEETS& WHEN I MAKE THESE KNOWN, I SWEAR TO GOD!, THEY ARE RECOGNIZED& ACKNOWLEDGED BUT N-O-T-H-I-N-G GETS CLARIFIED/CORRECTED-I USED TO GET ANGRY, BUT I JUST LAUGH--I REALISED THAT TO DO IT PROMPTLY ON THEIR PART(ESPECIALLY WHEN THE DON/ADON NOTES ALL THE MONTHLY ORDERS(W/ THE MOST ERRORS), WAS TO ADMIT A SUBORDINATE WAS BETTER ( HELL, MOST ANYONE WAS BETTER!) THE CORRECTION WOULD BE MADE A MONTH OR TWO & OF COURSE, THE RN'S WOULD NOTE THE CLARIFICATION TO IMPRESS THE ADMINISTRATOR/WHOMEVER--IT'S THE BIGGEST JOKE BECAUSE EVERYBODY KNOWS, AND IS A FOOL TO THINK THAT WE(LPN'S) HAVE TO BE LESS INFORMED THAN HERSELF.IT'S POLITICS, MY FELLOW NURSES,AND I WON'T BE AN R.N. TO BE A PIMP DADDY (IN SNF'S--I REMIND YOU)-I SAID THAT WHEN ASKED ONCE, AN ERROR-- GOT A WRITE-UP! WORTH IT, THOUGH! THE FACTS ARE: IF YOU ARE REALISTIC & IT IS FACT THAT YOU ARE BETTER,IT MAKES SUPERVISORS AFRAID, AND THAT IS(IN MY OPINION)ALL THE PRESTIGE I NEED---BESIDES GETTING 21.25/HR.& BEING VERY NEEDED. IF I SOUND VAIN, I DO NOT MEAN TO BE-THE POINT IS--THE OBVIOUS & CLEAR AVOIDANCE OF A"PAT ON THE BACK IS THE BEST COMPLIMENT- WHO NEEDS ATTABOY, GOOD CALL, ETC.? BE PROUD THAT POLITICS TAKE A BACK SEAT TO THE REAL NURSES, AND POMP & STATUS IS NOT THE CORE OF WHAT WE ARE--IF IT WAS--WE'D QUIT NURSING, RIGHT? I WISH THED BEST TO LPN/LVN'S WHO FEEL DEMEANED--AND I HOPE TO BE OF HELP TO ALL T.Y.
P.S. I'M A MALE--MAYBE THAT'S WHY I CAN BE SO ARROGANT @ TIMES--YOU KNOW US MEN!(KIDDING)

Aren't we all tired of this discussion? I feel so pressured to get my RN, so I can be a "real nurse". I will put myself up against any RN anyday! I tried to work on a Med Surg Unit one time, and it was the most self deflating experience in my life. I have never met so many Rude and Crude RN's who were so full of themselves, they had to put LPN's down to make them feel so Above us. I am now in Long Term Care, where we belong as LPN's. I really hope one day this nonsense ends. I make more as a Agency Nurse than any RN does in any Hospital. Do I sound bitter, you bet!
