The client asked if we had more flavors of methadone... I thought this was too funny. Unfortanetly we only have cherry. I replied that this is not a 7-11, ritas, or snowball stand. :lol2:

I like this job already !

I did not know that methadone came in flavors :) I knew that Saphris was available in black cherry, and some patients swear to me that Subuxone tabs had an orange flavor.

What will they come up with next: pina-colada flavored Valium?

I know right. Methadone typically comes in cherry, but could you imagine if we gave it in flavors? the clinic would never close. Some clients treat methadone like its candy. :uhoh3:

Just think of the possibilities- you could put it in baked goods, use as an ice cream topper, make it into candy. The new slogan could be: METHADONE: putting the fun back into drugs!

This thread made me think about the patient with constant pain who had this med discontinued. Hated to see the pain behavior that tylenol just wouldn't touch.

Does make you wonder who picks out the flavors,

Suboxone: Lemon Lime

Ludens: Cherry

Dimatap: Awesome Grape!!!!!

Childrens' ASA: MORE AWESOMER ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!

NO WONDER WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH ADDICTION?

While I think this thread is funny, I don't see anything wrong with flavored medications. A spoonful of sugar does help the medicine go down, and some medication needs flavor-masking!

while not a pain med, i'd pay someone very very well who could devise a way to make keppra not taste so bitter before my

hs dose is due! i wouldn't even care what flavor was. great seizure control but really obnoxious taste and aftertaste!:uhoh3:

i also wish, on a more serious note, that cancer tx meds and those for the side effects tasted better.

According to a patient, klonopin is "minty". I can neither confirm nor deny this, but you have to admit it is a nice combination; not anxious and kissy fresh.

And patient called out saying their nurse is late on pain medication. It is written on the board at 11. Now it is 12...BTW, it is PRN medication, NOT scheduel
