Do you find yourself falling asleep at the wrong times?

  1. 6
How's your sleep lately? Are you getting enough sleep? Years ago, I remember reading something about someone falling asleep at the wrong time. It was hilarious! I can't find the topic now so I'm hoping you can share your stories about you or someone you know falling asleep at the wrong time / wrong place.

Just finished week two of nursing school. Went to the movies today and several times woke myself up snoring. Probably from exhaustion, but also partly because the movie sucked. Don't waste your money on Closed Circuit.

My late co-worker Sandy was running on empty one night in the ICU. The patients finally settled down, so she got a waffle-weave blanket and used it for a pillow to catch a quick nap at the desk. The supervisor came in quite unexpectedly, and I managed to wake her up in time. But half of her face bore the waffle-weave pattern of the blanket. (Supervisor pretended not to notice, God love her!)

I was driving home from a night shift at a home care client's house once. They lived WAY out in BFE, and so I pulled in behind this picturesque little country church to take a nap to finish the drive safely. I woke up to a police officer tapping on the window. Someone had reported a dead body in a car!!! I scared the beejeebers outta him when I bolted upright!

I dated an anesthesiologist once. Every time we went to the symphony, ballet, play, or movie he fell asleep. He would often start to snore usually during the quietest parts. I would just pretend to be with the person on my other side when he did this. I often asked him why he wasted his money on these tickets if he was just going to sleep through it.

Your supervisor overlooked someone sleeping on duty??? In my facility it's an automatic dismissal.

My med-surg textbook used to be the perfect sleep aid. If I sat in a comfy chair or took it into bed with me, I'd be asleep in 5 minutes. I could only read it while sitting at the dining room table.
