Hi everyone. I'm considering these shoes since I get pain on my feet, legs and lower back. Dansko shoes was alright but now, they really hurt. I've read some info regarding these Z-Coil shoes and I'm pretty interested and also I talked with another nurse, who likes them.
I want to know what style is preferable on the floor (since standing and walking all shift) --like freedom 2000, Z-walker, OR taos clog?
I have wide feet too, so is it okay with the Z-Coil?
Are they also safe in the hospital to wear for work?

I'm not familiar with the Z-coil shoes. But have you ever tried Croc's? I had Dankso's too, but I was in pain after every shift. Dansko's are like walking on wooden blocks - no shock absorption. But with my Croc's, I never have pain. And Croc's cost only $30 - $40 a pair! They're like wearing slippers - and since they're rubber, they have great shock absorption on those hard floors. I have high arches, so I have to put $5 Dr. Scholl's arch support inserts in them, and then I have the perfect shoe.
Croc's are also great for wide feet. They don't fit like traditional shoes, so you need to try them on. Go to crocs.com and find a retailer near you. (I know this sounds like a commercial - I promise I don't work for Croc's!)

I wear Z-coils and swear by them :)
16 hours on my feet and they certainly help! I saw a couple of CNAs wearing it on the pediatrics floor and thought I'd give 'em a try.
Now I recommend 'em to everyone I meet

Will they work with wide feet?
How about the cords, will they get in the way?

There is another post somewhere talking about z-coils and how great they are, but to be aware as one nurse managed to pull out an IV by getting the tubing caught in the coil. It's around here somewhere, try a search for z-coils.
BTW, I LOVE my Danskos and can't imagine wearing wanything else.

And as for wide feet - find the right size and right fit :)

Roy- I never saw the enclosed z coils. Are they on the z-coil website online? Somehow I didn't see them there. I'm concerned about getting snagged on something and falling...
I'm providing it just for example. The Zcoil website says:
The Enclosed Coil SystemTM can be fitted on all Z-CoiL® footwear and is available in black or white.

Are they similar to Nike shockz? My daughter decided I need a pair and I do love them. These have covered coils.
I used to love my Danskos but I kept getting tendonitis because there wasn't enough support on top and sides.
