Your gpa?

Published

I will begin applying to nursing schools next quarter and I was wondering...of those of you who were accepted into nursing school what was your cumulative gpa in the prereqs? For those who weren't offered admission what was your cumulative?

I have no dillusions (sp) about the difficulty of getting into nursing school and was just curious about others gpa's since it is the primary factor for acceptance. Thanks for sharing!!!

3.67 gpa completed all pre- and co- reqs

10 yrs pharmacy experience

88 on entrance exam on 1st try

1 of 40 admitted out of over 350 applicants on 1st try

Specializes in none yet, but I'm VERY excited!.

Our local community college does not have a competative process. It is a first-come-first-served process. If you're really concerned about being accepted and your community has a program like this, you may want to apply to something like this in addition to applying to the competative program. That way you're covered.

Specializes in NICU.

I got in with a 3.05.. I think the lowest accepted was 2.8..

Thanks so much for all the replies I really appreciate it. I have a 3.8 in my prereqs and a 3.6 overall. I am taking o-chem and A&P 1 right now so I am sure my gpa will be slightly lower after this quarter. Next quarter I am taking micro and A&P 2. At my school (community college) the majority of your points come from your gpa. There are a total of 12 points available, yes I said 12. They are pretty hard to get into so we will see... Thanks again for the replies!

I got in with a 4.0. It's now a 3.625.

Specializes in OB.

3.69, made the deans list the semester before acceptance. no previous medical experience. got accepted first time I applied

275 applied for 60 positions. Went on a point system for grades.

they take the highest points then go down the list till all spots are filled

probably 3.85. 1000 applicants, they took 70. If you didn't have a 3.5 you didn't get in, except for 1 or 2 individuals who came in and personally convinced the decision makers to take a chance on them.

No entrance exams

I had a 3.6 overall GPA

3.89 GPA in nursing pre-reqs

no medical experience

I think there were around 350 applicants and I was one of the 56 that got in. In addition to GPA we had to have 3 letters of recommendation and had to write an essay. There was no interview, thank God (I suck at interviews). I interviewd at my 2nd and 3rd choice schools and didn't get accepted.

pre-reqs gpa - 4.0

overall/transfer gpa - 3.39

It is really important to have A's in your science pre-reqs. This is what is going to set you apart from other applicants with similar gpa's.

Good Luck!

Specializes in ICU, ED.

At my school we have to take an entrance test which counts for 3 points and then our gpa for a total of 7. I applied with a 3.67
