Anyone ever have issues with a job where you work with married middle age women and they hate on you because your young and single and they are jealous LOL I’ve been vaping since November and this woman is saying her asthma is bad but never complained til April. Anyone ever deal with jealous people! I know it’s because I’m skinny and young and she’s jealous just a whole new low

WOW! ?

Definitely did. Got my first nursing job around the time I turned 25. I was actually one of the oldest people in my cohort but that reversed out on the field.

I had my first two SNF jobs in nyc. The first one was in Staten Island. The daily boat commutes were the best part of the day. Ratio was 1:15-20. Looking back even though it had 1 star on Google I wish I would have stuck with them. While I was slow to give out meds I always managed to finish just in the nick of time. Stayed for 2 weeks.

2nd job, also 2 weeks, was a more prestigious facility in an affluent part of Manhattan. This one gave me more problems. It was ran by Africans and very cliquesh. Many co-workers were 40+ and a nurse friend (she was in her 50s and eventually turned out to be just as bad) who was looking out for me would frequently tell me the nasty things said about me. Even some of the administration was talking about me. During orientation there were only 3 nurses for a facility with...I believe 15 floors, so I wasn't sure why they did everything in their power not to keep me on board. There was also a lot of corruption there too and they almost had me working 5 days straight, 1 day off and then another few days on. 1:40 ratio. Didn't even finish orientation.

Even in home health I've had clients' parents look at me and decide I'm not a good it. I'm really petite and young looking and was often told I'm too young to be a nurse, even though nearly everyone in my class was years younger than me (2 girls were 18 and the age range was 19-22). Also, one should want a younger nurse. We have a longer shelf life.

Proving once again. There is never a shortage of narcissism or insecurity in nursing. Regardless of age group.

This shouldn't even be a topic here in allnurses. This is non nursing related. This is more of unhealthy gossip

I feel really sorry for all the bitter older nurses here. It's a miracle you guys are still alive.

Seriously though why don't you guys focus on answering OPs question instead of focusing on me? I think you guys are unfortunately proving her right by being so heartless.

The issue may not be jealousy. She may be a crappy nurse who thinks she's all that, and those with experience are tired of cleaning up her messes. Believe me, the situation exists, I have it in my own clinic. The young lady thinks everyone, patients included, are hating on her because they are jealous. When I've brought her into my office to address concerns, she makes sure to let me know its because we can't handle her unique talents ?. Unfortunately, she doesn't know what she doesn't know. That doesn't make others jealous.

Since we only know one side of the story, hard to tell what's really going on here

Most want a nurse with experience. This isn't necessarily older, as nursing is a second career for some, and some nurses start nursing school straight out of high school, so some experienced nurses are young
