Oh lord. I had a patient today, and I guess the doc thought her peri hygeine was not very good, so he ordered a douche. 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar. Its not like she wasnt being cleaned. I had her the night before and had bathed her so im sure it wasnt a cleanliness issue, but I think he thought i was. I dont know, what ever happened to monistat? I have never in my life seen an order for a douche. That poor woman. Have you guys ever had to do it?

Has nothing to do with anything, but one of my residents was constipated, and he wanted an enema, but instead he asked for an "ass douche."

I worked with a nurse that got pulled to a medical floor and she said she had to give her patient a Betadine douche. Have any of you ever heard of that?

I remember having to give douches what about 20 to 25 years ago for some patients. I seldom see that ordered now.

yup, for bacterial vaginitis, but years ago

I had to do a douche prior to infertility treatments. I think it was to help 'balance' the possible acidity that could inhibit the success. So, the answer is YES there are reasons to douche.

It must have worked because my 5-year old twins are here today...
