You cant be fashionable for nursing.

Published

Ok so I was told by my instructor that one cannot be too fashionable in nursing. What she meant by it is that you cant have your hair down (I have a hair that is medium-lenght and layered so it doesnt really touch my neck,so I dont see the problem why cant I wear it down. Also she she mentioned something about the nails, they cant be too long.Ok I agree with this because the lenght provide the site for microorganism colonization, however why cant they be painted???It is not like it willrelease the odor which then can be offending to the patients.

Rules are rules but in the reality how many of you nurses put your hair up and wear no nail polish to work.Just curious...

i'm wondering if the op is even from this country?

i'm sensing some cultural differences...

leslie

Oh no and what cultural differences are you sensing now,do you really think I would have a U.S army logo if I was from Philipines or some other recruiting nures nation???

We're just asking, no need to get nasty about it.

But are you originally from another country?

Yes I'm but I'm here more years than from the other country...

Cultural differences aside.

We all learned in school there were not many options , but to comply with what the instructors wanted. Whether we liked it or not. Instructors help to lay the groundwork .

We may end up at facilities that had multiple policies and rules. If we could not follow rules and policies while students it was grounds for being washed out.

Okay, so I think I get this now. You are simply receiving back from your instructors what signals you are sending out (what goes around comes around?). Your remark about your instructors were offensive, at the very least. They ARE the instructors, not you. Your posts indicate you are really into finding things done against you. I might suggest a session with the person looking back at you in the mirror.

Scrubs need not look like pajamas - I personally buy my scrubs to fit. My other posts have described my professional look. It's all about using appropriate judgement. I am required to wear white pants, tops have certain guidelines as well. In some departments, this is not required of the RNs there, but I'm not losing any sleep over that.

And, by the way (this is the English nerd in me), women wear HEELS. Hills are a geological formation.

No more for me on this topic - the OP is clearly not interested in learning.

laughing at other people wont make you look funny,it will actually makes you look nasty....

Hark?!

Did I hear something?
