Yikes..Took the NCLEX today

Published

Ok..Here's my story..

I've been a lurking of this site for the past month. Came on here everyday..wondering what others were going to say about this awful test..Well today was my day. :angryfire ..Loading up on the carbs the day before and a little this morning..needed all the energy and brain power I could get..;)

I got 75 questions..my screen with gray at first so I started to panic, thought that I did something wrong and was going to have to start all over again..:trout: Then I got the blue screen but I was still about to vomit..I had 3 select all that apply..actually my second question was a select all that apply..then I got a math question..and from what I've read on here it's a lower level type, but it was at #3, so must of missed the select all question. That's ok though..The majority of my test was either priority; who would you assess first..or teaching; you know your client understands when they state..I don't know what kind of level the teaching is...

It took me forever, to finish. A friend went with me and she was done in 1 hr. It took me almost 2 hr. But when I said down I said to myself, I've paid for this test and if I have too I'll take all 6hrs. ..Don't really know what to feel about it at this point..I just feel so emotional drained...I have put so much into this thing, done almost 4200 questions..I know I shouldn't of but I even did 100 questions sunday, but I felt if I got out of the mind frame of the questions I would screw up.

I'm so glad it's over but at the same time I just gotta know...Everyone feels this way I'm sure..There was a couple times during the test I just stopped and closed my eyes and prayed. I even wrote myself a note on my dry erase board, "You can do It". I just hope and pray I did...

Thanks for listening..or should I say reading... To all those left out there that have yet to take it, I wish you all the best..My only advice would be to take your time with every question..Even if it takes you 6hrs..You paid your money..;)

So, you didn't say- was it hard? i mean, i know you took your time and thought through the answers, but overall, were they hard questions? or similiar to review questions, at least?

all4schwa,

I wish I could say one way or the other..There were some that I thought were pretty tough but then there were others I thought were easy..But everybody's different, what's hard for me maybe easy for you and vice versia..

Sorry..I know this didn't help you any but I don't know what else to say..I did use the Mosby's CAT and the questions were similar..I didn't have the same questions or anything but the context was close. My friend that went with me said the same thing, she used it too. I was scoring 94-99% on the Mosby's CAT and did a Kaplan trainer CD that I got on ebay twice, the first time I scored 68%, and the second time scored 78%.

Good Luck..and I wish I could of helped you more..

Hi,

I took my test today as well, and shut off at 75. I feel sick!! I feel like I got alot of the questions wrong! I'm so worried!

I was an honor student all through school, and I studied really hard.

I guess I'll find out in 48 hours.

Good Luck to you!

Ann

Good Luck to you too Ann..I hope we both passed..

NCLEX is a strange exam. It leaves many people walking away feeling bewildered and battered. It did it to me. I did pass, and for that, I'm grateful...I'll never do this again.
