i'm so determined to become a lvn.
i'm 19 years old and i have a baby boy that is 14 months.
i'm thinking about attending premiere college in irwindale, california.
for the past 2 years even before i had a baby, i've looked at many schools,
and different options.
i'm so scared because i don't if i'll be able to keep up with everything
if i have to attend to my son!
has anyone ever got through this and have any tips for me?
i don't think i want to go to a community college and wait for the lottery to get into a class.
any suggestions. i would really appreciate it.
i've been too shy to post anything
for about 3 years reading this site.
Susan,
Good luch w/whatever you decide to do! I know you can do it! It will be up to you when you decide to do it. I have put off having children and can't wait to finish school to get a job and start a family. But I have been wanting to get pregnant for so long! In your case you need to decide if you will be able to financially make the sacrifice it will take, if you can dedicate time away from your family to study, and if you have a family/spouse who will support you and take on some of the duties when you have to study. If you can manage it, good for you... but don't feel bad if you need to wait a year or two while you get your things in order. You are so young!! you can take your time and do what feels right to you.
Hello, I'm older than 19, but I have two children (a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old), plus I work 20 hours a week as a home health aide. So far, I have straight "A's." Several students in my class have three or four children and they are making it. You just have to learn how to manage your time. I wouldn't let the fear of trying to complete a program with a child stop you. Several of us are doing it with more than one child, plus a job. You'll get through it. Good luck.
My dear,
I have been there; I had a husband, working and in nursing school. What I would suggest is for you to get involved with a strong study group, do not delay your education. You can do all things through Christ Jesus who will give you the strength and courage. Family support is also very important, work it out with members of your family or even friends if they can take your son 1-2 nights / week while you meet with your study group and the trade off could be you do something for them on the week-ends. I met with my study group 2-3 nights / week to work on projects and study. There were times I had to bring my baby with me and that was okay with the group.
