Does anyone know what the dress code for the interviews is? I was planning on wearing a nice top like a black turtle neck or something but my parents think I need to wear a button up and blazer and such so I wasn’t sure.

Also- does anyone know what questions they asked last year/what kind of questions we should prepare for? I’m nervous because I don’t really know what to expect ?

Last year I wore a blouse and a blazer. So kinda dressy casual. I don’t remember my bottoms because it was Zoom and knew they wouldn’t be able to see them LOL. So I didn’t focus too much on them. Don’t think Yale ever gave an official dress code though

Questions and style of interview last year depended heavily on the interviewer you got. My interview was pretty casual and conversational. Definitely prepared for a couple weeks leading up to it and there weren’t any curveball questions. I think most agreed with me last year about no curveballs but felt their interview was less casual or “harder” based on the vibes the interviewer gave. Check last years thread! If I remember correctly, a lot of people talked about their individual interview experience

Thank you so much for all those tips! Happy holidays all.

Does anyone know if there's a Yale video about the midwifery program or even a general information session recorded?

I applied to YSN’s GEPN program in 2020 and was admitted. There’s no official dress code for the interview, but you can’t go wrong with either of those options. I wore a dressy/professional top. Some of the questions I remember being asked are, “Why did you choose nursing?”, “Why Yale?, “Tell me about a time you experienced conflict in a professional or educational setting, and how you handled it”, “Why did you choose the [    ] specialty?” The only interview prep I did was think about how I could convey my passion for nursing and what specific things I could highlight about YSN to show that I’d done my due diligence. If you focus on the WHY and not on having perfect responses to questions, your interview will be more compelling and impactful.

Hi everyone! Happy New Year! I got an interview for FNP and it was such a surreal feeling. I don't think I've felt that level of adrenaline in such a long time. Feeling super grateful and nervoussss ahhh.

I wanted to congratulate everyone for even completing the application. It was super long and to get yourself through it is an accomplishment in itself. Lets do thissss! You guys are awesomeeee ?

Hi all,

I had my interview this week, and it couldn’t have been more delightful. Don’t be nervous, they clearly are making an effort to get to know you as a candidate. No technical questions. Best of luck everyone!

Congrats on finishing your interview! Mines on Tuesday and I'm so nervous... If you don’t mind me asking, did it seem like your interviewer looked over your application beforehand? Did they ever reference things on it?

Any advice you have for those of us interviewing next week?

Was accepted (and attending) Yale starting this Fall. I am an incoming GEPN student (PMHNP) so I’d be willing to answer any questions/give some advice if anyone needs it! Good luck!

Hi!

I'm interviewing for the PMHNP track next week. Very excited and very nervous! Any advice for the interview? What kind of questions were asked? Did you ask questions? Should I research my interviewers work and ask her about it?

My interview went so well, I almost cried after it ended (tears of joy). I did three key things:

1. I gathered my thoughts the day before and then the day of. I free wrote (handwritten) a few pages. Don’t worry about memorizing a whole script! A few “golden” phrases, yes for sure. But let it flow from your deepest-self.

2. I PRIOROTIZED self-care. Good sleep, good food, good vibes, maybe even a treat like a massage or a bubble bath. No compromises in self-care, you deserve it.

3. I meditated for 25-30 minutes. Go past the point of restlessness and let your mind wander, with your eyes closed and comfortable seated upright.

This worked very well for me. All the best of luck to all of us!

So happy to hear your interview went to well! If you wouldn't mind sharing, what types of questions were asked? Did the interviewer give you a chance to ask questions?

Did they mention when students will hear about acceptance or how many students are admitted?

I applied for the FNP specialty- what did you apply for? Thank you ? Good luck everyone! Wishing the best!
