Hi All,
I have been on the lookout for the 2020 thread but figured that I'll have to create one. I am sorry if there is one that I am not aware of.
I am a 2020 hopeful that is looking to make a career switch. I was at one of the information sessions where I gained further insights on the application process and the program. I took the GRE yesterday and was around the 50th percentile for both Q&V.
One of the changes to this years' requirements is that you don't need the GRE if you already have a masters degree or would complete one before the start of the 2020 session. I haven't taken the major prerequisites, but I will take and complete them in the summer of 2020.
I will start talking to my recommenders from next week, I have a tentative list that I composed with a view of having them tell different stories about my candidacy.
May I crave the indulgence of both current and past GEPNs and the benevolence of prospective class of 2020 to make this thread the best one yet. Your views and insights are welcome and appreciated!

- They're hoping to send out notifications last week of January.
- She added they'd like to be as fast and efficient as possible since admitted students day is February 7th.
Congrats again everyone and best of luck on interviews.
Can you explain what admitted students day is? I can’t find details for this on Yale’s website, nor is it on the event calendar.

It is the day where all admitted students are invited to campus for a set of events that introduce the admitted student to the school. There are presentations, panels, and you will get a chance to meet some of the current students and speak to them. There will be a tour of the school and normally the respective specialties will have their own events, normally a potluck at someone’s home or a dinner at one of the local restaurants for you to meet people from your own specialty in a more informal setting.

Yes, unfortunately it has always been short notice due to various timeline considerations but I would strongly encourage any admitted student to attend. As I said last year to students in the current cohort, admitted students day is not only for the school, staff, and faulty to meet you but also a chance for you to evaluate if the school is the right fit for you as a student. Do you like the shuttle system, are you comfortable with the fact that the school is on West Campus and not in New Haven? Do you find the gym convenient to your needs? Do you want to live closer to downtown? All these things will influence your decision on where you would want to live. Do you like the feel of New Haven as a town? Can you see yourself living here for a few years? What are my transportation considerations? Do I want to take the train or plane? Which airport is the closest and most convenient for me to fly into?
One of the things I would do over as a admitted student, is to take a a trip to physically visit New Haven and the campus to meet the students and faculty.

Did anyone from psych specialty receive an email regarding the interview update? Did anyone know when her/his interview going to be?
Hi,
Long-time reader of this thread (you guys are all amazing!) I'm also interviewing for the PMHNP specialty. I have not received anything yet in terms of an interview date and time so we're probably the last specialty to be scheduled and most likely we'll find out on Monday by the end of the day. I wish you and everyone on this thread the happiest of holidays!

I also have one person interviewing me, at least one person who was named... I’ve watched some YouTube videos and made some notes about things I want to make sure I cover if asked. I feel like as long as I have some points I want to get across, I can have a reference point if I start to panic, lol. We are all going to do awesome! Something I’m seeing reiterated by the experts “be yourself and show your passion for the specialty”.
