Hi All,
I have been on the lookout for the 2020 thread but figured that I'll have to create one. I am sorry if there is one that I am not aware of.
I am a 2020 hopeful that is looking to make a career switch. I was at one of the information sessions where I gained further insights on the application process and the program. I took the GRE yesterday and was around the 50th percentile for both Q&V.
One of the changes to this years' requirements is that you don't need the GRE if you already have a masters degree or would complete one before the start of the 2020 session. I haven't taken the major prerequisites, but I will take and complete them in the summer of 2020.
I will start talking to my recommenders from next week, I have a tentative list that I composed with a view of having them tell different stories about my candidacy.
May I crave the indulgence of both current and past GEPNs and the benevolence of prospective class of 2020 to make this thread the best one yet. Your views and insights are welcome and appreciated!

If you want another certification in another specialty, you can come back for a post-masters but you won’t be able to do it concurrently. The only dual specialty offered at Yale is CNM/WHNP.
@Riri35 just to add on to what was already said, Joseph said during the information session that they want people to be sure of one path they want to do in the program. This came from me essentially asking if I could go on an abroad trip with students from CNM specialty since I'm interested in maternal and child health. He said no in so many words and wants people to focus on what they choose, especially since the program is so intense for one specialty, let alone two.

Unsolicited advice - get some life experience first, it matters.
To be quite honest, I’ve been reading this thread and mentally engaging myself in it since it was created. I did not feel a need to comment anything until I read this though. No disrespect what so ever because I do agreed to a point...
Although, I find that it is rather biased to say “who would want to see a healthcare provider that is younger than some of their ailments”. But life experience does matter. However, age absolute does not. There are applicants who have been doing healthcare related work whether it be a Patient Care Tech next something else in the medical field. I would like to say I am 22. My age doesn’t matter. Fortunately, there are people like myself who have trained for the success in becoming an NP by doing CNA and or Nurse Tech duties. I have been studying and doing hands in clinical s since I was 14 in high school, and working as a Nurse Tech since I was 16. I am now gaining experience through Hartford Healthcare.
There are people who are starting fresh, changing careers...this program seeks diversity and ambition, experience not so much, but it is a bonus. There are people my age who are younger than “most ailments” that know better and are more informed than some starting from a clean slate with no experience on their 30s, some even 40s. This program and so very unique as it takes a deeper look into each applicant for who they are, what they have to offer, and how they will provide exceptional care as a provider.
Experience as a whole will go a long way, but it is safe to say that the age of a provider doesn’t define who they are, what they have done, or what experience they have. I’m proud to say I’ve saved lives as a working in an Emergency room as a teenager! My age doesn’t define my knowledge, and it doesn’t define any one else’s knowledge or ability to be a provider. Many GEPN applicants are new grads coming straight from their undergraduate studies, anywhere from 21-25. Let’s all support each other as this program we have applied to is about teamwork, helping our peers, and supporting each other as health care PROFESSIONALS.

From how the email reads, we should find out by next Thursday the latest. You’re not alone with the anxiousness of the wait. I wonder how long the wait will be after the interviews.
